We at Shaffer Animal Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive associate seeking a an externship within a collaborative team of compassionate DVMs and support staff. We are a non-corporately owned, well-established, small animal practice located in the northeast corner of Orlando. While we have three full-time doctors presently, our practice easily supports four doctors due to ongoing demand from prospective new clients and patients if you're seeking a permanent position!

Our sizable facility and top-of-the-line diagnostic/therapeutic tools (ultrasound, digital radiography/teleradiology, digital dental radiography, EKG, advanced anesthetic monitoring, cold laser therapy, etc) allow us to practice a high level of care. We are a Fear Free certified practice and are committed to delivering better care by considering the physical and emotional well-being of our patients.

Our commitment to embracing new technology (paperless EMR, online pharmacy, personalized app for clients, and two-way texting) allows us to maintain top-level communication.

We understand that our most outstanding attribute, however, is our well-leveraged and knowledgeable staff, empowered to perform to the potential, allowing you to practice medicine and surgery.

Our team enjoys:

-The organization of a 5-minute daily morning huddle with the whole team to optimize communication and prepare for the day

-Weekly doctor meetings to discuss cases, concerns, suggestions, etc.

-Structured on-boarding and ongoing mentorship via daily and weekly check-ins  to discuss mutually agreed upon goals and achievements; a program tailored to your comfort level and abilities (from new grad to experienced DVM)

-A tenured leadership team, led by our CVPM, dedicated to ensuring a smooth workflow with appointments and same-day urgent care requests, while also overseeing daily operations at the hospital and at our neighboring daycare and grooming facility.

-30-60 minute scheduled appointments to allow for client education and a Fear Free experience for our patients.

-NO Sunday hours, NO holidays, NO on-call or evening/overnight duties: enjoy your time out of the office at the theme parks, beaches, or enjoying nature in our backyard!
