The Athletic Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Harvard Athletics Allston Complex including the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. The incumbent will manage a team of full- and part-time staff members who serve Harvard and external community members year-round. Administrative responsibilities include organizational matters such as staff scheduling and management, facility maintenance, assigning, tracking, and completing work orders in addition to other duties. This position reports to the Associate Director of Athletics, Facilities & Operations and provides operational oversight of the physical plant, ice maintenance, equipment/heavy machinery, and ensures all areas are properly maintained to foster a safe working environment.
Manage the daily operation and staff of the Bright-Landry Hockey Center including, but not limited to scheduling, maintenance, and event management, and works closely with the Associate Athletics Director, Facilities and Operations, and Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities.
The hiring, scheduling, management, and training of Cambridge Landscape Zamboni operators.
Supervise Athletics Property Operations Assistants, including scheduling, work order assignments, and completion. Schedule and supervise all internal and external service vendors.
Manage Bright-Landry Hockey Center operational budget and operational budgets of other assigned facilities. Coordinate the purchasing needs of Bright-Landry Hockey Center, monitoring and tracking usage of all materials, equipment, and supplies.
Responsible for mechanical maintenance of two Zamboni Electric 552 ice resurfacers, other vehicles, and related equipment as necessary.
Maintain NCAA Division 1 competition level ice quality by managing ice temperatures, dew point, and other critical related factors. Develop and maintain logs to track ice condition, temperature, maintenance, and other areas.
Responsible for development and implementation of ice maintenance program, maintenance, and cleaning of areas surrounding ice such as boards, glass, and bench areas.
Oversees and assists in the general maintenance and cleanliness of Bright-Landry Hockey Center including the locker rooms, concourses, seating areas, meeting facilities, and other areas as assigned. Works with FMO Custodial Supervisor to coordinate general arena cleaning and event coverage.
Manages public relations between customers and arena management.
Collaborates daily with Cambridge Landscape site supervisor to support outdoor athletic activity throughout the Allston complex.
Operate the Zamboni ice resurfacer as required, including, but not limited to all home Men's and Women's varsity hockey games.
Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in facilities planning preferred
3+ years of relevant experience
5+ years of experience managing a competition-level ice arena/multipurpose venue.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and in goal/expectation setting), attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Project management expertise.
Ability to work with a variety of constituencies with a customer-centric focus.
Ability to work independently to solve problems; looks for opportunities to take on responsibility; takes thoughtful risks; and effectively acts on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Ability to perform vehicle maintenance preferred. Knowledge of Zamboni Electric 552, FastIce, and Level Ice systems is required.
Knowledge of NCAA Hockey protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of facility scheduling software preferred.
