Summary of Duties:
The Senior IT Auditor is a professional-level auditor position responsible for audits and analysis at Washington State University with an emphasis on information technology. This position plans and conducts risk and control assessments of University information systems, assists in developing the annual audit plan, plans and performs risk-based audits to evaluate the security, integrity, and regulatory compliance of the administrative, academic, and associated information systems of the University, as well as perform audits of system applications and network infrastructure, and communicate results to management.
This position provides supervision of IT Audit Intern and IT Auditor 2 and 3 positions, as assigned. The position serves as Project Manager for IT audits within TeamMate. The position will assist the Office in the design and performance of operational and information technology/systems audits and train audit staff on IT issues as appropriate. This position receives minimal supervision from the CAE of the Office of Internal Audit and must use initiative and independent judgment, while following guidance and established practices and procedures.
This position is based in Pullman; however, remote/hybrid work may be available. The work schedule is required to primarily overlap normal office hours M-F between 8am - 5pm Pacific Time.
A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, accounting, or related financial discipline which includes at least 12 quarter or eight (8) semester hours of information systems, computer technology, accounting or auditing and Six (6) years of professional IT auditing or IT systems administration experience; experience in a multi-platform environment with enterprise-wide applications and IT security OR equivalent education/experience.
At least two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Technical competencies and working knowledge of information technology infrastructures, network operating environments, application systems, system development, and information security management programs, active directory, best practices and standards, and a proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Broad and thorough knowledge of IT general control concepts and associated risks for information security.
Broad and thorough knowledge of internal audit and IT auditing standards and procedures.
Broad and thorough knowledge and experience in compliance auditing, grant and contract auditing; financial, management, and technology controls.
Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, including active listening skills and verbal presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to interact independently and effectively with all levels of management.
Outstanding analytical skills, including collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
Possession of at least two current audit-related industry certifications.
Familiarity with relational databases and ERP concepts.
Possess CIA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or related certification or advanced degree.
Experience with higher education.
Internal audit experience.
Workday, Oracle and/or PeopleSoft experience.
Experience with systems administration experience on Windows and/or Unix operating systems and network systems.
Experience in using TeamMate.
Experience with ACL, IDEA, Tableau and/or SQL query.
