The Montessori School of Raleigh seeks a Community Engagement Officer as part of the Development Department. This position will create and execute initiatives and events that engage multiple constituencies and advance the philanthropic growth of the School.
The Community Engagement Manager reports directly to the Director of Development and interacts with both internal and external stakeholders. A successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, creative, and collaborative work environment that requires flexibility and initiative.
This position will serve on the Advancement Team, Calendar & Logistics Committee, Marketing & Communications Committee (as needed), and other teams/committees as deemed necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Montessori Parent and Staff Association (MPSA) (40%)
Serve as the MPSA Staff Representative: attend monthly Executive Committee meetings; support annual onboarding of executive officers; guide the executive committee in the annual review of the organizational structure; evaluate event effectiveness; cultivate an inclusive parent community
Coordinate MPSA events and initiatives: attend planning committee meetings; liaise between committee/volunteer needs and key MSR staff to execute events as needed; leverage MPSA events and initiatives to support the growth of the philanthropic advancement and institutional priorities in collaboration with the Director of Development to incorporate philanthropic opportunities to The MSR Annual Fund; collaborate with the Advancement Team to build opportunities into existing events that support recruitment and retention
Manage monthly Room Parent email communication and volunteer recognition events for the Executive Committee
Constituent Events (30%)
In close collaboration with the Director of Development, manage events that engage MSR constituencies and stakeholders for the benefit of the philanthropic advancement of the School, including: faculty and staff, current parents and grandparents, graduating seniors, alumni, and friends of the school
Coordinate invitations, event registrations, RSVP's, and follow-up communications
Manage preplanning and day-of event logistics, serve as the primary event contact for internal collaborators and outside vendors, maintain event records and budgets, and evaluate event effectiveness
Serve on planning committees and manage constituent-specific signature events that may be associated with anniversary years. Examples may include: Grandparents & Special Friends Day, alumni reunions, panel discussions, and additional constituent events
Constituent Engagement & Stewardship (20%)
In partnership with the Director of Development, manage the Annual Fund Parent Chair (AFPC) committee: recruit and retain parent volunteers; attend two meetings per year; coordinate internal communication with the AFPC; coordinate communication to parents on behalf of the AFPC; coordinate AFPC stewardship initiatives in conjunction with Giving Tuesday and Day of Giving
Create, manage, and execute an annual stewardship plan across all constituencies in collaboration with the Director of Development
Assist with communication that related to the philanthropic advancement of MSR, including, but not limited to: direct mail solicitations, digital campaigns, and alumni newsletters
Process donor acknowledgement letters in a timely manner
Manage and maintain accurate biographical information for constituencies; build event registrations and track RSVPs; build and maintain queries and mailing lists in Veracross
Build, maintain, track, and reconcile accurate budgets for events and stewardship initiatives
Administrative duties including assigned after-school and carline duties
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Requirements and Proficiencies
Is committed to the mission and core values of MSR, which include "respect, integrity, community, and love of learning"
Two or more years of event management experience; experience in an educational or non-profit environment a plus
Holds a Bachelor's degree
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to a high standard of ethical, equitable, and objective values
Excellent organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple projects successfully
Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Database management; familiarity or knowledge of Veracross, Composer, and Finalsite a plus
Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and International Baccalaureate a plus
Engages in the life of the school by regularly participating in campus and community activities
Strives for continuous improvement and solicits feedback to improve service
Physical Requirements and Work Environment The Community Engagement Manager can expect to:
Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines
Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment spending extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
Regularly sit, talk, hear, and interact with staff
Occasionally life up to 30 lbs.
