This classification provides expertise for a broad variety of systems and applications or clinical/operational workflows. The Senior Systems/Applications Analyst must be innovative and creative in solving problems and in meeting objectives in a timely manner. This classification is responsible for determining requirements for new computer systems and evaluating vendor responses, providing consultation to others, training staff and customers, and acting as lead analyst. This position is responsible for providing system support for the development, maintenance and enhancement of administrative systems used by Hillsboro Medical Center, including MedSeries 4, MediaWiki and custom programs supporting administrative services. The position works in system design, report and program development, analyzes system requirements, and implements new applications, interfaces, and systems according to the needs of the organization. Over the next 2-5 years, the organization will be migrating to new applications, decommissioning others and looking for efficiencies. The person in this position will drive much of that work.
Function/Duties of Position
Development & Design:
Analyze present and future system needs of customers and make recommendations on options and alternatives for implementing applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows and processes
Perform an analysis of existing applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows for simplification or enhancement
Conduct customer meetings to obtain system definition and design approvals or develop system or workflow interfaces/conversions
Design application or workflow specifications for the most complex and critical OHSU & Hillsboro Medical Center systems and applications
Assume lead staff responsibilities to ensure that development and implementation objectives are met
Provide training/mentor assistance to lower level analysts
Provide consultation to others
Define architectural, development, and system standards used by other analysts
Provide ongoing support, follow up and maintenance to existing applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows
Installs and tests vendor upgrades and new releases
Assume project management responsibilities for small projects or sub-projects within a larger project
This position is currently 100% telework/remote and may include remote work long-term. Candidate must be able to work from home full-time initially.
Education: Master's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Associate's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate's degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor's degree Experience:
Taking the technical lead working with large scope project implementations within an IT department.
Writing technical specifications for complex solutions.
Writing and maintaining documentation for technical solutions.
Taking the lead creating and maintaining code repository (Bitlocker/Github).
Taking the lead working with vendors on quotes, technical options and project delivery.
Taking the lead setting technical standards for the team.
Job Related Knowledge , Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
Experience with SQL, PHP
Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills: both written and verbal.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Relevant experience successfully working with end users on projects.
Must have knowledge and experience working with development life-cycle, testing and production environment procedures.
