DEPARTMENT OVERVIEWThe Division of Student Affairs and Success provides campus-wide coordination and leadership for student success programs and activities across departments, divisions, colleges, and administrative units. The Student Affairs and Success Division includes Career Success, the Student Success Centers, Dean of Students, Student Conduct, and Student Health, which all provide direct services and resources to students, and the Student Success Equity Research Center (SSERC), which provides data, research, and evaluation support for the campus and manages the adviser case management, early alert, and predictive analytics systems that are part of the student success initiatives.

careers.ucsc.edu JOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Associate Director for Student Employment, Internships and Experiential Learning, the Internship Coordinator will utilize a theoretical understanding of career development to advise and guide students toward internship opportunities. The internship coordinator will also cultivate and maintain campus and external relationships that lead to internship opportunities for students, convening, leading, and curating campus wide conversations about experiential learning theories, models, and activities. The internship coordinator will manage the Chancellor's Undergraduate Internship Program (CUIP), the Chancellor's flagship program, as well as the UC Sacramento Internship program and other grant funded or foundation sponsored internships. The internship Coordinator will provide a holistic approach to coordination of internship cultivation and oversight, modifying workshops and presentations as necessary. Performs independently, but may receive guidance in developing new career advising / coaching services and programs.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATIONSalary Information: Salary Range: $55,100 - $63,500 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

JOB DUTIES50% - Internship Cultivation, Curation, and Coordination - Cultivates and maintains campus and external relationships that lead to internship opportunities for students, convening, leading, and curating campus wide conversations about experiential learning theories, models, activities.
- Individual/group advisement for students interested in experiential learning, develop and facilitate innovative workshops, and manage, develop, and advertise the experiential learning career information resources available through career and employment services.
- Facilitate placement of students in positions related to their academic major, monitor students' on-site assignments, and develop support documentation for academic credit and/or university recognition.
- Collaborate with other departments/student services to effectively market experiential learning through outreach programming. Promote the accessibility of experiential learning postings as well as experiential learning job-search strategies. Conduct outreach to current/prospective students and other stakeholders to promote benefits of experiential learning.
- Counsels undergraduate and graduate students and alumni on internship options and opportunities, including customized services for specific populations.
- Helps students identify their interests, values, skills, and personalities, and understand how these factors relate to academic / career satisfaction and choices.
- Uses standard quantitative and qualitative assessments to help clients assess career goals.
- Provides guidance to departments / colleges / schools on providing resources to meet students' career needs
- Researches and organizes economic and employment trend data, and designs materials for presentation to students and organization professionals.
- Modifies and conducts workshops and presents programs to meet the needs of students and staff.
- Maintains and enhances relationships with corporations and other organizations to develop and modify potential internships, and promote external relations with the organization relating to career services for students and alumni.
- Nurtures positive relations with alumni, donors and mentors to increase internship opportunities and program support. Maintains and enhances relationships with campus organizations to develop potential host resources, and promote external relations with alumni relating to career connections for students.
- Develops and implements marketing and outreach programs to promote programs and services.
40% - Manage Chancellor's Undergraduate Internship Program (CUIP) - Curates and manages the Chancellor's Undergraduate Internship Program (CUIP), Career Success's flagship program, as well as the UC Sacramento Internship program and other grant funded or foundation sponsored internships.
- Provides oversight, marketing, development, and logistical support for a year-long experiential program which provides on-campus internships in programs and departments throughout the campus with transformational results. Recruits, places and supports interns to each work with a mentor to develop personal and professional skills, and take a leading role in producing projects in their internship.
- Counsels undergraduate students on career options and opportunities related to internship programs, including customized opportunities for specific populations. Helps clients identify their interests, values, skills, and personalities, and understand how these factors relate to career development, satisfaction and choices. Helps with decision-making, goal setting, action planning, and identifying internal/external obstacles to obtaining goals. Identifies personal crisis situations and refers clients to appropriate resources.
10% - Other Duties - Special projects, committee assignments, and other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and/or the Executive Director.
- Acts on behalf of the Associate Director as needed.
- Thinks creatively and innovatively about revenue generation and grant development, and participates in activities that result in the same.
- Helps with decision-making, goal setting, action planning, and identifying internal / external obstacles to obtaining goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Strong knowledge of experiential learning theories, career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice; workshop and program design.
- Knowledge of higher education programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.
- Ability to design and modify computer applications to meet program needs, problem identification, presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
- Thorough knowledge of workshop and program design and management.
- Outstanding oral, written, and digital communication skills.
