Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced systems infrastructure professional with a full understanding of industry best practices and Campus policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues that are moderately complex in scope. Defines, designs and operates data protection and backup systems, services and technology solutions. Implements DR strategy and enhancements such as software, hardware, and network configuration of moderately complex scope. Implements updates for projects and services of moderately complex scope. This position is the principal administrator of data protection systems and services.
Performs moderately complex analysis to acquire, modify, and support operating systems, databases, utilities, and tools. Makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware, software, and services. Proposes updates, changes, and enhancements for new or existing projects and services (including hardware, software, and network flow) to technical and non-technical staff. Writes and maintains system documentation.
Writes and implements moderately complex scripts, or implements and configures automated tools, in support of systems management, log analysis and other system administration duties for multiple integrated systems.
Performs moderately complex security control activities to prevent unauthorized access to networked resources. Assists with maintenance of security systems for network equipment and provide recommendations on network access controls.
Participates in the development of campus and departmental server standards and processes. Promotes partnership with other technical units. Participates in long-range planning.

ITS Security Statement
Information Technology positions are responsible for the security of UC Institutional Information and IT Resources. The incumbent is required to follow all applicable information security policies, procedures, and standards to maintain minimum standards of information security for data, systems and applications. Supervisors are responsible for making sure their staff have appropriate security skills and qualifications, and complete all appropriate and required security training.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
