Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle School Librarian. We seek a proactive, generous, and dynamic individual eager to work with a collaborative library services team to develop and sustain Middle School library programs and facilities; ensure that they advance the Middle School academic program; promote information literacy; and provide instruction for Middle School students in library services consistent with the school’s efforts to instill love of reading, research, and responsible, ethical sourcing and dissemination of information.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain an up-to-date, well-stocked, and diverse Middle School library collection conducive to reading and research
- Select, process, and make readily available a variety of resources, including print, digital, and multimedia
- Assist students on an individual basis and ensure their equitable access to information
- Assign library staff tasks consistent with the library’s goals and procedures for serving as a hub of student and faculty learning
- Supervise library staff in their daily tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the library and its support services
- Develop norms for student behavior in the library in collaboration with library staff
- Lead weekly meetings with library staff to assess best practices, ensure optimal use of library resources and spaces, and plan events
- Research and evaluate new and emerging information technologies
- Collaborate with academic departments to support Middle School curricula through information literacy instruction
- At the division head’s request, prepare and deliver 5th and 6th grade curriculum to familiarize students in those grades with the library space, collection, and services
- Promote the ethical and responsible use of information
- Develop, organize, and support library events (including but not limited to author and speaker visits)
- Prepare and manage library budgets
- Network with local librarians and maintain active memberships in professional associations
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assume the role of co-advisor to a group of students (12-15)
- Attend community events throughout the school year
- Engage in meetings during and after the school day including but not limited to department, committee, and divisional meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in Library Science or related fields.
Experience: Two years’ experience in library services.
Specific Skills: Knowledge of and/or practice in developing LibGuides, Follett Destiny, and database instruction and acquisition.
Requirement: All employees must be fully vaccinated and show proof of their full COVID 19 vaccination and booster if eligible.
