Forefront Suicide Prevention is a Center of Excellence at the University of Washington focused on reducing suicide by empowering individuals and communities to take sustainable action, championing systemic change, and restoring hope. Forefront Suicide Prevention is recruiting for a program specialist for the Training, Technical Assistance, & Evaluation department. Forefront offers suicide prevention training to lay and professional audiences using innovative approaches to teach life-saving skills. Forefront also offers long-term technical assistance through crisis protocol development assistance, training-of-trainers programs, and other ad hoc technical assistance.
This position is responsible for managing curriculum development and special projects within the Training & Technical Assistance department. Examples of projects include: •Project managing annual suicide prevention training updates •Developing crisis planning protocols for non-profit partners •Adapting suicide prevention curricula for local community-based organizations (including language adaptations) •Developing new curricula for high-risk industries (construction, veterinary, etc.) A successful candidate for this role will have experience in project management cross-sector multi-stakeholder community engagement. They will also be a self-starter, highly organized, and passionate about effective suicide prevention programming. This position reports to the Training, Technical Assistance, and Evaluation Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 70% Project Management: •Plan, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term projects within the training department •Conduct formative research (needs assessments, literature reviews, etc.) •Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders from different industries and disciplines to meet project deadlines and goals •Develop relevant tools, materials, and products to support service delivery •Work with Financial Specialist to develop, execute and track service delivery agreements
30% Curricula Development & Management: •Maintain curricula to ensure alignment with best practices in suicide prevention, adult learning theory, and diversity/equity/inclusion •Develop and organize educational materials related to training •Tailor curricula to meet the needs of clients •Collaborate with evaluation staff to develop evaluation strategy for projects and curricula •Other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic goals of Forefront and the UW School of Social Work
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a related field plus two years relevant experience •Demonstrated project management experience •Experience working with stakeholders from different backgrounds, disciplines, and/or industries •Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and/or adult learning theory •Excellent written and oral communication skills •Adaptable, able to work in white space to develop programming •Strong analytic and organizational skills •Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE •Master’s degree in public health, social work, or related field •Experience developing e-learning modules using Articulate360 or equivalent software •Knowledge of and experience with suicide prevention •Advanced skills in learning program development, training delivery, facilitation, and learning management systems •Experience in e-learning course development (e.g. Articulate Storyline 360) As a UW employee, you will enjoy generous benefits and work/life programs.
