Job Description:
The Simulation Operations Specialist works collaboratively with faculty to provide technical and managerial support for the Curry College Nursing Simulation Program on both the Milton and Plymouth campuses. This position is a 12 month, full-time placement. Occasional (or regular) evening or weekend shifts may be required. The Simulation Operations Specialist will report to the Curry College School of Nursing Chair under the direction of the Dean.
Essential Functions:
1. Administrative Functions:
Manages the schedule for Curry College Nursing Simulation Center;
Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals;
Orders, organizes, maintains and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies;
Oversees open labs hours for independent practice by students;
Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials;
Collects data for simulation lab utilization, ongoing research, or grant requirements;
Participates on the Simulation Advisory Committee;
Maintains simulation activities and learner confidentiality;
Maintains the digital library of electronic simulations;
Meets with faculty prior to implementing new simulations to help determine feasibility;
Supervises student workers.
2. Simulation Functions:
Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications;
Operates patient simulators and cameras for the duration of simulations.
Operates and maintains audio-visual and debriefing systems;
Sets up and takes down learning environment equipment for skills lab, health assessment, and simulation scenarios (may involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set up);
Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment, including:
Patient simulators, computers, monitors and a variety of medical equipment.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed.
Manages warranties and maintenance agreements.
Arranges scheduled maintenance of equipment.
Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including:
Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment
Medication dispensing systems
Vital sign monitors
Provides theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested (mixes fake body fluids and creates wounds);
Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, staff, and student workers in use of simulation equipment.
Additional Functions:
Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree.
Minimum of 2 years related experience, or the equivalent in the Information Technology Field.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to travel between both the Milton and Plymouth campuses as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist.
Experience in simulation.
Healthcare experience.
Baccalaureate degree in related field such as computer science or information management.
Experience in a college setting with proven technical abilities across a variety or complex software systems, relational databases, and web-based programs.
