Borough of Manhattan Community College seeks an experienced individual who has the ability to work independently and as part of a successful BMCC Learning Academy team that serves a diverse student population. The BMCC Learning Academy offers students an integrated and comprehensive system of support from the point of admission to graduation and transfer. The key program features include individualized advisement, success seminars, high impact activities, career building skills and experiences, and connection to faculty, student support services, and campus resources. Reporting to the Director of the BMCC Learning Academy or her designee, the successful candidate???s central responsibilities will include,but not be limited to the following:
Work closely with the director on program development and assessment.
Oversee retention initiatives, including those for our at-risk and probation populations.
Conduct weekly seminars and workshops and provide cohort-based academic advisement and caseload management for 50 students, especially in health-related majors. Continuously monitor and support student academic progress, referring students to appropriate support services. Monitor and respond to StarFish retention flags.
Supervise junior advisors, including training, development, and feedback. Maintain Advisor caseloads, scheduling, and ensure integrity of BLA advisement.
Plan and conduct professional development trainings on a regular basis with staff.
Prepare program-wide reports, surveys, and projections on enrollment, retention, and program outcomes to share with staff, administrators, and stakeholders.
Ensure the management of student files, databases and records. Maintain knowledge of academic curricula.
Work collaboratively with student support services including, tutoring, mentoring, academic advisement, counseling, career services and financial aid. Actively participate on multiple campus-wide committees.
Evening and/or weekend schedule is required.
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
Bachelor???s degree in related field (student personnel administration, higher education, social science, education, communication, or counseling) preferred
Master???s degree in student personnel administration, higher education, or related field with four years??? experience in higher education highly preferred
Experience working in special programs and/or a cohort model and advising community college students
High comfort-level using and discussing data
Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of student account, planning and retention tools especially Ellucian, PeopleSoft and Starfish
Knowledge of best practices in leadership and staff training
Strong organizational, project management, communication, and facilitation skills
Comfortable speaking to groups including students, staff, faculty and administrators
Detail-oriented multi-tasker with independent initiative and good judgement
Strong experience working in collaboration with students, staff/ faculty and administration to create successful programming
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Salary: $71,791 - $84,946commensurate with education and experience.
