The Department of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics (DCMB) at the University of Michigan is committed to providing outstanding departmental management to DCMB faculty engaged in research. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Basic Science Department.
The purpose of this position is to provide support to 3-4 faculty with robust research portfolios. The project manager will partner with each faculty to create and submit annual reports to funding agencies, assist with preparing the proposed budgets and submission to process for proposals, maintaining standard documents, write first drafts of correspondence, assist with the administrative management of the laboratories, organize wellness events for the laboratory staff and students, monitor post-award expenses on behalf of the faculty. The position may include special projects within the department. The position reports to the Chief Department Administrator.
- Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7 years of progressive grant and contract experience
- Minimum Experience :
- 2 years' experience in a healthcare/life science, finance, communication, academic or similar setting.
- Work experience in a job within a fast-paced environment focused on healthcare administration or financial processes.
- University of Michigan experience with M-CV, Biosketches and Other Support pages, or related experience will be considered for internal candidates.

- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
- General computer skills include working with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. PeopleSoft experience is a plus.
- Ability to proactively set priorities and multitask.
- Meets high service excellence standards.
- Master's degree preferred
- Sponsored Research (Pre-Award) experiences is highly preferred. This includes but is not limited to:
- Understanding sponsor guidelines and helping investigators adhere to them when applying for grants.
- Developing and maintaining Biosketches, Other Support, Facilities & Resources documents for NIH and NSF.
- Ensuring that all parts of the grant (excluding scientific content) are correct prior to submission.
- General accounting or grants accounting experience preferred but not required. This includes but is not limited to: expense tracking, monitoring and budgeting.
