Places student learning, intellectual persistence, and attainment at the center of the university's mission by advocating for enhanced student learning;
Fosters a culture of collegiality and excitement about teaching/learning excellence on campus through:
Providing new faculty and new adjunct faculty orientation,
Integrating adjunct faculty into professional development opportunities, and
Providing peer review opportunities for online, hybrid, and F2F classes
Supports the improvement of teaching and related service, research, and creative work by:
Assisting faculty in developing effective strategies for selecting learning objectives, establishing effective course activities and assignments, and assessing student outcomes;
Encouraging adoption of inclusive teaching and universal design of learning;
Providing multimodal opportunities to pursue professional development and improvement of teaching by offering workshops, conferences, and grants; and
Increasing faculty awareness of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, their use of SoTL research in designing courses, and their development of SoTL projects
Helps faculty take advantage of rapidly changing technology pedagogically proven to enhance student learning through:
Encouraging and supporting excellence in learning through the refinement of new technologies and pedagogies,
Providing appropriate technology and training to meet faculty needs,
Helping faculty take advantage of rapidly changing technology that is pedagogically proven to enhance student learning, and
Assisting in developing flexible learning environments
Job Summary
Deparment Specific Responsibilities
Provides professional client support through evidence-based, informed consulting practice, workshop facilitation, and project management.
Serves as an expert resource, remaining current with the literature about the use and assessment of instructional strategies not limited to but focused on instructional technologies in higher education. This includes current and emerging technologies related to learning management systems, active learning classrooms (and supporting technologies), electronic collaboration and social networking, e-Portfolios, instructional use of multimedia, electronic conferencing, and online instruction.
Collaborates in larger initiatives and working groups to support the mission of the Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence as well as UITS strategic IT initiatives.
General Responsibilities
Consults and serves as an experienced resource to faculty in planning, testing and implementing instructional technology projects that support innovative approaches to learning, instructional and assessment.
Maintains currency on emerging technologies related to learning management systems, active learning classrooms, electronic collaboration and social networking, instructional use of multimedia, electronic conferencing and online instruction to help faculty make evidence-based decisions about the use of technology.
Researches, stays up-to-date, and recommends appropriate technologies for developing course materials, delivery mechanisms and course/instructor/student assessments to support effective teaching.
Develops and designs workshop materials that promote technology strategies in traditional and online courses and conducts individual, group and large audience training sessions.
Collaborates in larger initiatives and working groups to support university efforts to improve teaching and learning.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, instructional technology/design, or related field
Preferred
Master's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years of experience in instructional development and/or instructional technology consulting, and/or training, and/or teaching (face-to-face or online) or providing instructional design with online instructional technology, preferably in a higher education context

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is located on the IU Southeast campus located in New Albany, Indiana.
