In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. *Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

The Department of Pathology at MSK is a dedicated, diverse group known for their expertise, ingenuity, and compassion. Working in a highly motivating environment, the group receives a complex variety of more than 110,000 specimens annually and performs more than 50,000 molecular diagnostic tests.
We have more than 600 staff members are spread across four laboratory services: surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology, and molecular diagnostics. Pathology provides laboratory support for the Mohs micrographic and dermatologic surgery program and supports MSK's research mission through the division of experimental pathology. We're also advancing the field of digital pathology through our slide scanning and computational pathology efforts. All of our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, such as ThermoFisher senior grossing stations with advanced camera optics and touch screens, laser capture microdissection capabilities, telecytology remote microscopy, advanced flow cytometry panels, and Illumina sequencing instruments.
We are currently seeking an experienced Per Diem Histology Technician to join our team. Position Summary: You will provide pathologists with accurate and reliable evaluations of Surgical Pathology tissue samples.
You Will:
- Processes fresh and fixed tissue specimens for surgical, autopsy, and investigative histopathology preparations under supervision.
- Performs assigned quality control procedures.
- Records daily, weekly, and monthly, all quality control and preventive maintenance activities. (Include any corrective action taken, along with date and initials).
- Performs preventive maintenance activities as scheduled, documenting on appropriate logs.
- Work at one of our facilities in New York City (Relocation assistance available for this job, pending completion of 6 months employment).
You Need:
- Associate Degree with knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology OR accepted per NYS requirements is required
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Technician/Certified Histology Technician required
- 2-year experience in histopathology techniques preferred
- ASCP Certification strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills - including verbal, written and computer
