Responsibilities This position reports to and works directly with the Supervisor for Educational Technology & Client Support for all teaching space technology related needs within the Education Zone.
The primary role of this position is to serve as a just-in-time support staff for all teaching and simulation space in the four buildings comprising the Education Zone of UCDH. The person is considered moderately knowledgeable in classroom and teaching technologies and will have knowledge in the field of computer connectivity video/audio systems, digital sound processors, matrix routing systems, networking, systems administration, simulation systems integration and Crestron coding and devices or relevant experience.
The individual will, at times, assist in projects for equipment refresh, technology upgrades of existing systems within the Education Zone.
Required Qualifications Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Knowledge of projection systems, computer systems, operating systems, audio systems, switching and control systems, and associated equipment.
- Moderate technical knowledge or ability to learn Crestron control systems operation or relevant experience.
- Technical knowledge of systems networking
- Technical knowledge on the operation, configuration, and installation of Digital Sound Processors (DSP).
- An aptitude to learn how to modify, install and assemble enclosures, equipment racks, electrical mounting devices, electronic circuits, mechanical components, basic understanding of high-definition video fundamentals, and associated hardware needed to keep systems operational.
- Ability to work in a team environment to assess multimedia system issues and customer needs.
- Technical experience with video and audio routing, and hardware video and audio encoders.
- Experience with video systems and software to include video capture, formats, techniques, and equipment required for program production and delivery.
- Technical experience with videoconferencing systems such as Cisco and Polycom as well as web conferencing programs such as Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, or relevant experience.
- Moderate knowledge of and the operation of the Clinical Skills System such as B-Line or similar such system.
- Ability to maintain competency in a rapidly advancing industry.
- Ability to apply organizational skills and self-motivation necessary to maintain and/or upgrade personal knowledge and skills regarding assigned functions and tasks, annual goals and objectives, and identification of training needs.
- Ability to work effectively with constant interruptions; ability to work simultaneously on several projects independently and to use good judgment in determining priorities.
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills to diagnose a problem and determine steps necessary to produce an effective solution.
- Technical knowledge to assess the quality of work done and the ability to communicate effectively to convey that information to supervisor.
- Ability to understand and restate technical problems in terms understandable to high-level administrators, faculty, technical staff, or a novice user.
- Ability to use, troubleshoot and assist instructors with presentation software normally used in instruction such as PowerPoint or other such program heavily used by the Medical Center instructors.
- Knowledge of PC and Apple computer use, connection, and troubleshooting, including their ability to function with a variety of audio-visual equipment.
- Ability to use computer software programs for documentation, record keeping and email.
