Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.
Additional Department Summary: The Information Security Analyst is responsible for participating in a comprehensive information security program to ensure appropriate security technology, tools, processes, procedures, reporting, and remediation are put into place and maintained to protect the University’s computing assets from unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure. Participates in regular monitoring and maintenance of security tools and systems. Triages alerts, tickets, and incidents as needed. Resolves alerts from tools and investigates incidents. Researches new tools, attack methods, and threat actors. Follows and creates procedures and playbooks. Completes training annually to increase security knowledge and skills. Participates on projects to assess information security risks and ensures compliance with University security policy including industry and governmental compliance.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and one (1) year of IT experience; OR Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and five (5) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP) or other security certifications. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas of information security: end-point security, network security, cloud security, penetration testing, vulnerability management, logging and monitoring, incident response/forensics, and/or software security. May require advanced level training or certification. The candidate must be willing to maintain security certifications upon employment. If candidate does not possess CISSP certification, candidate must pass CISSP exam within 6 months of employment.
