This position is critical to the overall operation of the Blood Bank/Donor Program (BB/DP) and greatly impacts the department's ability to effectively support critical hospital services such as the ED, OR and ICUs. The Programmer/Analyst will have the responsibility of upgrading, implementing and maintaining the IT solutions needed to operate the BB/DP. The individual will work closely with BB/DP leadership, hospital IT and vendors in order to assure that BB/DR LIS and the interfaces to the EMR and automated testing platforms meet the needs of the department and the hospital while conforming to all applicable regulatory requirements.
Duties of a Lead Programmer Analyst - Blood Bank may include the following but are not limited to:
Maintenance and daily support of the Blood Bank Lab IT supported hardware, equipment, and desktop integrations.
Ability to prioritize relevant tickets based on clinical department needs.
Multitasking skills are a must.
Troubleshoot applications, hardware or network issues quickly by identifying sources of problems.
Demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills as well as being a team player while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Ability to handle network communication and device integration.
Outstanding customer service skills.
A.A.S. degree with minimum two (2) years relevant desktop/server support experience in Healthcare IT.
In lieu of A.A.S. degree, technical certifications in relevant IT (desktop/server support) and minimum two (2) years relevant desktop/server support experience in Healthcare IT.
Two (2) years' experience systems support in common operating systems (i.e. Windows, Unix/Linux, and Mac).
Two (2) years' experience in application support.
Working knowledge of network communications and device integration.
Experience with vendor management.
Excellent diagnostic skills.
Detail oriented and have strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential.
Experience with Blood Bank or lab Information systems and/or processes.
Project Management experience.
Prior experience with PC image management solutions.
Understanding of HL7 interfaces and system integrations.
Ability to recognize, analyze and effectively solve problems in a timely and organized manner using industry best practices and procedures. Proven ability to design and implement new processes.
