Job Summary
The Artificial Intelligence Pathways Institute is a rapidly growing national program designed to teach concepts in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to high school students. 2022 will be the fourth year for the program, which consists of an introductory “exposure” curriculum; an intensive “activation” summer camp; and a more advanced school year program.
This position will be responsible for assisting with our effort to continue to enhance our developed curriculum materials by making them more engaging, cohesive, and streamlining the education of future instructors through development of multimedia and other instructional technologies.
You will work closely with the STEM Director, project manager, as well as (potentially) a team of CMU graduate students who are assigned to this project. The primary objective is to make it possible for instructors who are not particularly experienced in Artificial Intelligence to be able to read the instructor guide and implement the Activation camp with ease and to lead in designing a series of relevant multimedia videos, company/product tours and more that will be embedded into the student-facing curriculum.
Responsibilities
Over the course of the next 5 months (review in August) this person will need to spend 10 - 20 hours per week on the following tasks in order to aggregate materials which make it faster & easier to learn the key aspects of the curriculum for both teachers and students, and are branded and streamlined for a cohesive feel to the curriculum. This may include:
- Website integration and development
- Design Teacher and Student "portals" on the AI pathways site
- Interface between the website and the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Modification of Media
- Define consistent style guild to be use in all video, web, and print materials for the Activation Camp
- Create (approximately 40-45) instructional videos to get instructors familiar with the lessons, materials, and activities in each module
- Create a cohesive product through look and feel of videos/slideshows/worksheets/etc
- Content migration
- Migrate content from google classroom into chosen platform (approximately 25 lessons)
- Prepare each lesson to flow smoothly from one to the next, for example by introducing new terminology in an intentional manner and then using it consistently
Requirements
- Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR letter as well as 3 hour mandated reporter training.
- Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills are a must
- Proficient in Google Suite.
- The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
- Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.
Certifications and Clearances
CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire or newer then 6 months. PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test must be submitted upon hire and before start date.
