The Project Manager in Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care (POPC) is responsible for setting timelines, evolving effective communication, and implementing complex projects directed by POPC. This role reports to the Director of Clinical Operations for POPC. Primary projects/areas of focus are Psychosocial Distress Screening (Universal Screening) and Supportive Oncology (Collaborative Care):
In collaboration with the Universal Screening project team, led by Psychosocial Oncology and Social Work leadership, the Project Manager is responsible for the evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Universal Screening project and operations at Dana-Farber. Universal Screening is an initiative to identify and respond to psychosocial distress and concrete and unmet needs in Dana-Farber???s adult ambulatory patient population.
In collaboration with Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care leadership, the Senior Director of Social Work, the Clinical Lead Social Worker for the Satellites, and satellite clinical social workers, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation, and data tracking for Supportive Oncology. Supportive Oncology is an initiative to deliver evidence-based supportive care to adult ambulatory patients; integrating psychosocial and palliative care team members to give interdisciplinary team recommendations.
The person in this role will support interdisciplinary initiatives tied to the Institute???s and/or POPC???s strategic plan, exercising considerable initiative and independence.?? This will include responsibility for direct planning activities such as developing project charters and tracking progress of the efforts to assure deadline compliance.?? They may draft and implement procedures and policies relating to the projects. This role will also have daily interaction with faculty, staff, and internal and external stakeholders and will be asked to serve as a resource for the collection and analysis of data. This role supervises the Administrative Support Specialist who is responsible for the daily operations of Universal Screening and may provide administrative support to Supportive Oncology for database management or other projects.

Assess and set project timelines; track progress of the efforts to assure deadline compliance.
Collaborate with Universal Screening and Supportive Oncology workgroups to oversee assignment of validated screening tools and triage algorithms, research technology solutions, and increase stakeholder support and response rates for screening tools.
Ensure assigned POPC projects are compliant with national mandates and best practice standards, including those of the American College of Surgeons, Institute of Medicine, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and Quality Oncology Practice Initiative.
Prepares presentations and writes reports supporting project work.
Engage key stakeholders to develop content and build project support, including DFBWCC and POPC leadership, oncology providers, patients and families, the DFCI Patient Reported Data (PRD) team, Mass General Brigham Digital Health eCare (MGB DHeC) staff, psychosocial clinicians, and resource content owners.
Ensure alignment of assigned projects and goals with other programs across DFCI and oversee programming requirements of Universal Screening and Supportive Oncology.
Ensure smooth operations for interdisciplinary team, including questionnaire deployment, social work follow up, and EHR documentation per the evolving protocols for Universal Screening and Supportive Oncology.
Brings knowledge and expertise related to Universal Screening and Supportive Oncology to other POPC projects; this includes contributing to and analyzing current and future metrics, reports, and dashboards.
Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of assigned projects, ensuring staff have necessary training, tools, and support to engage in high quality patient care. This includes having structures in place for patient access to validated assessments, clinician access to patient responses and/or data trends over time, standardized clinical follow up and support, and communications and stakeholder management with clinical and operations leadership.
Responsible for the operational implementation of Universal Screening and Supportive Oncology upon opening of new DFCI sites or clinics.
Collect, synthesize, and implement feedback on use of screening tools by gathering satisfaction data from patients, caregivers, providers, and staff.
Facilitate the development and revision of patient education materials with writer and content experts. Identify/provide support for distribution of materials.
Bachelor???s Degree required;Master???s Degree and/or healthcare experience is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of project coordination or related experience is required.
Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
Ability to manage complex assignments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent computer skills and ability to learn various databases
Experience with health information technology, especially electronic health records, and health care-related data.
Experience in managing and implementing change
A self-starter with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize, plus strong organizational and accuracy skills.
