This position is considered remote, up to 1 day in the office at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island.
Serve as the Account Manager/Writer lead for our Donor Relations team. Develop marketing strategies and materials to support events managed by Donor Relations, including all Behind the Breakthroughs events, annual Dana-Farber Presidential Symposium, Chief Scientific Officer Forum, and stewardship and recognition events. The Account Manager/Writer will also partner with Donor Relations on stewardship activities, like major gift announcements, and recognition assignments, including gifts and displays. The Account Manager/Writer will also work on Division projects, as assigned, which could include creating collateral materials and content for various platforms, as well as researching, writing, and editing a variety of marketing materials, such as major proposals and publication writing, to support the needs of the Division of Philanthropy in raising more than $300 million annually. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching its financial goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute communications strategies that support donor stewardship, recognition, and cultivation ??? with a focus on supporting events in particular. Materials are both print and digital, and include invitations, program books, hand-out materials, premiums, and more.
Serve as Philanthropy Communications main account contact with assigned Donor Relations staff including the Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Senior Associate Director, Assistant and Associate Directors, and Event Officers. Supports other fundraising teams, as needed.
Create and execute Philanthropy Communications strategies and materials supporting Behind the Breakthroughs events, annual Dana-Farber Presidential Symposium, Chief Scientific Officer Forum, Chairs celebrations, stewardship and recognition events, and all communication aspects of donor recognition. Support additional projects for Donor Relations and Division-wide, as assigned.?????? ??
Develop communications plans for each event, including analysis of the previous year and recommendations for future strategies, tactics, and timelines.
Oversee creative execution of projects and provide the copywriting, editing, and proof-reading for all written materials and marketing collateral.
Provide organized and detailed project management for each project, start to finish.
Partner with Digital Marketing colleagues on website updates, email builds and sends, and social media plans.
Collaborate as a strategic partner with Donor Relations and other fundraising teams to ensure marketing projects are completed on point, on time, and on budget.
Partner with Donor Relations and Dana-Farber Communications to develop announcement strategies for major gifts to both internal and external audiences.
Collaborate with Philanthropy Communications and Digital Marketing colleagues (design, web developers, photography, and production staff) to develop effective creative strategies and smoothly execute projects.
As assigned, research, write, and edit a variety of marketing communications materials to support the needs of the Division of Philanthropy. Specific writing and marketing assignments include, but are not limited to:
Articles for donor newsletters and publications that include Impact, and other print and online/email newsletters (adhering to AP style)
Copywriting (print, online, social media), brochures, collateral, website copy, email blasts, e-newsletters, etc.
Reports to Assistant Director, Philanthropy Communications. There is no supervisory responsibility for this position. This individual will work with a variety of individuals throughout the Institute, including Donor Relations personnel, prospect managers, team contacts and Directors, Institute leadership, faculty members, Dana-Farber Communications, and others as needed.??
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, or related field required. Three to five years of copywriting, event support, and marketing experience in an agency, non-profit, or related industry required; experience in a Philanthropy setting preferred, particularly marketing for fundraising events or principal and major gift solicitations, including proposal writing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Strong creativity, strong writing abilities, strong project management skills ??? including collateral production, strong proof-reading and editing skills, capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while providing client service excellence to multiple teams.?? A full understanding of donor behaviors, marketing, advertising, and other creative professional experience.?? Also requires donor relations and stewardship experience, event/project management experience, excellent organizational skills, proficiency in interpersonal business communications and listening skills, strategic marketing, and event support planning.
Mastery of Zoom, Microsoft technology including Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and related software programs is required.
This position will evaluate current programs and create and execute approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events and activities assigned in order to broaden our donor base and create even more inclusive events and overall marketing. Experience with diverse donors is a plus.
