Senior Business Operations Specialist (ORGANIZATIONAL CNSLT 4)Job Summary
The Senior Business Operations Specialist reports to the Executive Director, Strategic Deployment and provides administrative leadership and direction within Strategic Deployment to ensure achievement of the department's strategic and operational plans. This role supports development of long- and short-term Strategic Deployment strategic plans, financial budgets, KPIs and management measurement for Strategic Deployment. This individual acts as liaison between UCDH leaders and Strategic Deployment leaders to create a culture of open communication within a safe and supportive environment.
This position would manage a variety of business process and procedures within Strategic Deployment and support development of the department management system and rhythm of the business activities. An ideal candidate has experience successfully applying traditional project management theories and concepts, a firm understanding of the business/healthcare environment, excellent communication at all levels of the organization, and ability to collaborate across various functions, and UCDH divisions to achieve project/organizational objectives. The Senior Business Operations Specialist must be a self-starter and able to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision. This position will supervise 2 FTE.

Department DescriptionThe Strategy Office is responsible for the development and periodic refinement of the enterprise strategic plan and strategic operating plans, business development, strategic project management, and analytics and strategic insight spanning the tripartite mission of clinical care, education, and research.
Strategic Deployment has lead responsibility at UC Davis Health in implementing the
Clinical Strategic Plan as well as providing ongoing operational excellence improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Demonstrated supervisory training and/or past supervisory experience
Strong demonstrated interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams, and with executives, providers, and staff at all levels. - Project management experience, and ability to manage projects with autonomy, exhibit professional judgment, and prioritize projects tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, multi-constituency organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to positively interact with executives, providers, and staff at all levels.
- Excellent customer service skills to understand and articulate diverse clients' needs and objectives; manage expectations and deliver as promised and on time.
- Analytical, problem solving, project planning and execution skills.
- Applies strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained. Sound judgment, ability to draw unbiased conclusions.
- Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.
Preferred Qualifications - Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or the ability to acquire within twelve months of hire.
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a closely related field.
- Operational Excellence experience is preferred.
- Experience managing healthcare-related projects and familiarity with healthcare provider industry.
- Experience in large academic healthcare setting.
- Consulting experience is preferred.
- Functional experience in other areas of the business - such as Operations, Pharmacy, Perioperative, Ambulatory Care
- Experience in for-profit, non-profit and start up environments is a plus.
- Experience leading system-wide improvement projects in a healthcare environment with process improvement work experience.
