Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is a department in the division of Safety and Community Empowerment in Business and Financial Affairs. PATS employs 16 professional and student assistants.
PATS parking officers are responsible for the enforcement of parking rules and regulations on campus, in addition to providing parking and traffic support for numerous events occurring on campus. Our parking officers provide enforcement through foot patrol and license plate recognition software.
PATS office staff provide information and services to our campus community for permits, citation appeals, defensive driving and overall support for our parking management database used by our community for managing their parking accounts. Additionally, our transportation analyst works directly with vendors and campus partners to provide alternate modes of transportation for our campus community and ensuring our traffic demand management initiatives are followed.
Under the general supervision of the Director, the Associate Director of Operations will provide direct supervision of all parking officers and special event coordinator, with full supervisory authority. This position will be responsible for the management of special events, which will require oversight and presence at major events and coordination with Mission Valley events. This position will be responsible for the management of the South Campus Plaza garage and coordination with construction occurring on campus. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the parking officers and to ensure all enforcement technology is operational. This position will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of future parking technology as it relates to parking operations. This position will be responsible for all parking inventory of the campus.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or combination of education and experience.
Two to five years of relevant management experience.
Ability to drive cross-functional groups toward a common goal.
Ability to effectively lead diverse team.
Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with research and data analysis.
Management and supervisory experience.
Fiscal oversight and coordination.
Demonstrated problem solver.
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Master's degree preferred in Business or Public Administration.
Five to ten years of experience in organizing, planning and/or coordinating special events, in parking, enforcement and/or transportation operations and supervising full time employees preferably in a University setting.
CAPP Certification through International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI).
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
Valid California Driver's License.
Traffic Control Certification (or ability to receive certification within 60 days of hire).

SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
