The Social Media Manager is responsible for curating and creating compelling social media content and developing strategies that support University operations, including CUNY Central Office and the Chancellor???s Office, with the goals of strengthening the University???s profile, expanding its visibility, and engaging with audiences including prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. The Manager is also responsible for staying on social media and digital trends, monitoring social media conversations, producing, delivering, and presenting analytical reports. In addition, the Manager serves as a liaison between CUNY Central Office and social media staff across CUNY???s 25 institutions. This position reports to the Director of Social Media in the Communications and Marketing Office.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
Develops and manages strategies and improvements that have measurable and beneficial results; oversees and presents weekly, monthly, and yearly analytics reports and key takeaways to the Social Media Director and stakeholders;
Writes, edits, produces, and manages social media related content on CUNY???s social media accounts including, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, TikTok and any new or future social media networks;
Manages a robust content calendar, in coordination with and in support of the Marketing, Media Relations, Multimedia and Design teams to integrate University-wide branding, initiatives, campaigns and messaging;
Monitors social media conversations and audience sentiment; craft and manage all responses to comments and questions across platforms;
Identifies opportunities for expanding awareness and profile of the University among key audiences through social and digital media;
Serves as a resource for social media staff across the University; provide best practices and conducts training sessions;
Independently interacts with internal and external stakeholders on University campaigns and initiatives;
Stays current on trends and advises the University on developments, and tools in social and digital media; in addition, refines, shares, and enforces social media guidelines.
Note: Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance in the tri-state area.
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Bachelor's Degree preferably in communications, public relations, or journalism;
At least three years of experience in content development, strategy, and management of social media, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Strong ability to work independently and write clear, engaging content that is platform and audience appropriate;
Excellent writing skills, as well as a working knowledge of AP Style;
Ability to balance high-quality, high-impact copy and visuals for maximum engagement;
Knowledgeable in basic photo correction and video editing, as needed for social media apps;
Familiarity working with social media tools and content management systems, as well as advanced social media publishing tools;
Demonstrated experience understanding and adapting to a changing social media landscape, including learning new platforms.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages electronic, online and multi-media communications, providing editorial, technical and production expertise.
-Consults with client staff to assess needs and determine design and technical specifications
-Plans communications messages, formats, and designs which meet clients' needs and have impact with the intended audience(s)
-Coordinates the efforts of internal and external professionals to implement and disseminate electronic media projects
-Creates and maintains databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects
-Develops production policies and standards and adheres to communications and branding standards
-Supervises staff as needed
-Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $66,455 - $91,658, commensurate with education and experience.
