The Department of Mental Health is seeking a Senior Research Program Coordinator who is responsible for organizing and completing study recruitment and data collection as part of research studies being conducted within participating public-school systems funded by various federal agencies (e.g., Institute of Education Sciences, National Institutes of Health). The research studies focus largely on issues related to student behavioral and mental health, social-emotional learning, school climate, and classroom-based supports for students and teachers.
This role will support the recruitment and consenting processes and the administration and review data collecting using online surveys and classroom-based observations using mobile tablets. The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of short-term data collectors for the conduct of classroom and school observations. Further, they will provide general administrative and reporting support to the research team.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Visiting schools for recruitment purposes (e.g., coordinating with school points of contact; talking to students about parental consent and sending home consent forms; attending parent events) and collecting data using computerized surveys and observational tools designed to assess student behaviors, social and emotional skills, and school climate.
Ensure that all recruitment and consent activities are consistent with the IRB-approved protocol, and that all data collection activities are completed for the assigned projects (e.g., provision of survey materials to teachers and/or students; computerized classroom observations; entry and coding of data).
For classroom-based observations, recruit and hire short-term data collectors and train them in the applicable tools, including the ASSIST observational tool (i.e., requiring two days of training).
Successfully pass a training on the ASSIST observational data collection instrument to continue with employment.
Work with school administrators and teachers to schedule and assign collectors to specific schools and dates and will verify and log the confidential data into a centralized database.
Duties also include reviewing data collected for accuracy and generating summary reports.
Candidate will learn and demonstrate skills in how to establish contact with administrators, teachers, students, and families, build rapport, and conduct unbiased assessments within the school.
Will work independently and meet weekly with the research team.
In addition, will be responsible for traveling to schools, as needed, to gather scheduling information and conduct the classroom observations and student assessments.
Will provide general administrative support for the projects, including scheduling of meetings and trainings, maintaining project correspondence, ordering supplies, submitting invoices, and processing travel reimbursements and procurement card transactions.
Will assist in the preparation of a variety of reports (e.g., progress reports) for collaborating agencies, participating schools and school districts, and funding agencies.
Will provide support to project management, IRB, and future grant applications.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and 3 years of related work experience preferably in coordinating school- or community-based intervention and/or evaluation projects.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Proficiency with laptops, tablets, and computers, as well as ability to operate a printer/copier.
Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Power Point and SPSS or other data management software.
Experience with online data collection interfaces (e.g., REDCap). Must be able to work independently and self-motivate as part of a team.
Ability to effectively multitask.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:
Experience working with confidential data preferred.
Exposure or comfort with learning programming and survey generation.
