Job Title: Graduate Research Lab Temporary Technician
Department: Graduate Research Lab
Division: Technology Systems and Services
FLSA Status: Part-time Non-exempt
Reports to: Graduate Research Lab Manager
Position summary: Providing support and customer service for the Graduate Research Labâs Print Lab, Computer Lab and Checkout desk. Position requires a 20 hour per a week, one-semester commitment with the potential for evening and weekend availability.
General purpose: Preform large format print jobs and equipment checkouts, help maintain the Computer Lab, assist students, and provide support for Graduate Research Lab Coordinator.
Position responsibilities:
- Serve as first point of contact for students using the Grad Lab
- Manage equipment check outs and returns
- Perform minor equipment maintenance
- Test and clean checkout equipment
- Manage large format and laser print jobs
- Perform minor printer maintenance
- Test and clean printers
- Answer telephone and email inquiries and provide information as needed
- Answer and assist with student inquiries
- Perform general cleaning of lab
- Release Webcheckout fines
- Provide coverage for other Grad Lab Technicians when possible
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential skills and experience:
- Education: Bachelorâs degree in Digital and electronic arts, information technology or comparable professional experience preferred.
- Must have general computer skills
- Must have some AV knowledge
- Must be able to solve technical problems quickly
- Must be resourceful, and able to preform complex tasks
- Solid communication skills
- Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor and work with a diverse population
- Ability to multi task
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Experience with large format printing and color management
- Experience with a wide variety of photographic, video, sound, AV and Computer equipment
- Experience with a wide variety of photographic, video, audio, scanning and 3D software
- Experience with Webcheckout  Â
- Outstanding previous service as a Graduate Research Lab: Assistant, Super Tech, or Tech
