Oregon State University is seeking applications for Director of Industry Engagement with the Division of Extension and Engagement, Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy (CORE) team. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position is located in Portland, Oregon.

The Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy advances the University and Extension & Engagement Division's vision, mission, and goals through national and state engagement of the outdoor economy sector.
The Director of Industry Engagement reports to the Executive Director of OSU's Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy. This position partners with the Executive Director to develop long-range plans and identifies measurable benchmarks; secures financial resources; promotes partnerships and collaboration with internal and external partners; ensures program visibility at national and state level, and promotes the principles and practices of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Director will provide leadership for establishing and promoting positive, productive relationships between the outdoor industry, the University, and the Division. This position will implement the Center's strategic plan through external relationships, communications, and outreach activities to engage, promote, and gain support for programs and services with external stakeholders and industry partnerships.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to:
· create opportunities, implement, and engage external relationships, communications, programs, collaborations, and events that support the development of the Center with the outcome of securing applied research projects, workforce training and education opportunities, and for-credit program opportunities that meet the needs of industry and agency partners.
· possess a passion and commitment to advancing the outdoor economy and industry.
· build collaborative networks with stakeholders, program partners, and OSU faculty to create a relevant and responsive Center.
· recruit, build, and provide support and project management expertise to the Industry Advisory Board and Work Groups (if applicable). Specifically, building the engagement platform for internal and external partners.
· support and communicate the shared vision of the Center and assist with the establishment of a culture of commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion.
· lead the development of the communication plan to share milestones, impacts, and values to external partners and stakeholders at the state and national level.
· develop a competency-based approach to the identification of workforce training and education needs through market analysis and conducting needs assessments and inventories.

Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to department, college or unit focus. 3 years' experience developing and engaging in strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline: recreation, tourism, management, business, business administration, education or other relevant discipline.
Demonstrated experience of 5+ years working in outdoor industry-related careers.
Demonstrated experience of 3+ years developing and engaging in strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in working with human resources professionals and/or executives to identify employment needs of for-profit, non-profit, or agencies in the outdoor economy.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills including the effective use of technology.
Demonstrated experience in engaging committees in accomplishing identified outcomes.
Demonstrated experience with advisory committees or networks.
Demonstrated experience in relationship development and management with a diverse group of external partners.
Demonstrated experience with project management.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030 et seq
This position will require traveling to meet with program partners and stakeholders as well as to fulfill the general work requirements of this position.
