Position Details:The College of Nursing at Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) invites applications for a 12 month career-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in Social Work. The successful applicants will be expected to develop a new program in social work at the Bachelors level (BSW) which includes the creation of materials required for the accreditation process through the Council on Social Work Education. Applicants are also expected to teach courses and engage in on-going work related to the impact of social and economic inequities on underserved communities.The Director of the BSW is expected to initiate and contribute to all accreditation requirements from CSWE, as well as assisting with the new degree proposal process at the university. Applications from candidates with demonstrated expertise are encouraged. The successful candidate will be expected to provide outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level, contribute to professional and university service, and participate broadly in the social work curriculum.The College of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing to over 1,000 students system-wide at campuses and satellites in Spokane, Vancouver, Tri-Cities, and Yakima. The College of Nursing offers pre-licensure baccalaureate; RN to BSN; Master of Nursing (MN) with a population health focus; Doctor of Nursing Practice with specialization in Family or Psychiatric/Mental Health or population health advanced nursing practice specialties; and PhD programs with additional graduate and professional development certificate programs available. U.S. News and World report consistently ranks our graduate programs among the top 40 in the U.S. with our DNP program currently ranked as #28 and our MN program ranked as 39. Our BSN pre-licensure program graduates more than 280 students annually and is the top producer of RNs in Washington. Our alumni and faculty are recognized for their contributions to research and scholarship, clinical practice, service and leadership at local, regional, state and national levels. Scholarship is focused in four primary areas, including 1) Advancing health equity, 2) Health Promotion and Risk Reduction. 3) Healthcare Systems and Workforce or 4) Smart Health and contribute to the health and well-being of our populations and to the ongoing transformation of healthcare now and in the future. Current WSU College of Nursing is ranked #19 by the Blue Ridge Institute.RANK/SALARY:This is a full-time, career-track faculty position with a 12-month academic appointment as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the Washington State University Tri-Cities campus in Richland, WA. Appointment, salary, and research startup package are commensurate with qualifications and experience.The position will begin August 16, 2022.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Initiate the accreditation process and pre-candidacy requirements from CSWE
- Lead the new degree proposal following the university process.
- Develop and teach undergraduate courses in social work
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students
- Contribute to advancing social work education and research
- Participate in service to the department, college and/or university through committee work, recruitment, and interaction with local and regional stakeholders
- Advance the college's commitment to diversity and multiculturalism among its faculty, staff, students through research, teaching, and community outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities
- Collaborate closely with other appropriate faculty throughout WSU, including but not limited to colleagues with interest and expertise in the applicant's research areas
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Candidates must be a licensed clinical Social worker holding a MSW from a CSWE accredited institution.
- A minimum of five years' experience in progressive academic leadership and exhibited strength in both scholarship and teaching.
- A minimum of two years of full-time post-MSW/Master's practice experience for all applicants is required.
- Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, demonstrated service experience on campus, in professional organizations, agencies or in their communities.
- Excellent communication abilities in written and verbal forms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Doctoral degree in social work or related field
- Education experience, including the use of multiple digital or technology-supported teaching/learning platforms and mechanisms.
- Expertise in accreditation processes within social work
- Demonstrated experience managing undergraduate social work programs
- Leading programs that are delivered to students across multiple campuses with necessity to consider regulations and requirements in bordering states.
- Leading Social Work programs at a research-intensive, health sciences center
- Leading Social Work programs that are embedded in colleges with active faculty practices.
