The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a Stewardship & Donor Relations Manager in our Advancement department. The Stewardship & Donor Relations Manager will assist in the management of an endowment stewardship program designed to foster and nurture long-term and meaningful interactions and relationships between The Ethel Walker School and its donors. This is a full year, full time position and reports to the Director of Development and the Annual Fund.
Primary goals:
Collaborate with Advancement team members to drive a donor relations program. Plan and execute stewardship projects, activities and events. Plan donor stewardship strategies for all levels of donors through thoughtful touch points, donor-centered communications and outreach.
Oversee interactions with endowed fund donors to share impact of their gifts, thank them for their support, and ensure that funds are being expended according to donor wishes.
Provide substantive and timely reports to donors regarding the impact of their gift(s).
Ensure endowed fund recordkeeping adheres to fiduciary responsibilities of the School and that information in Raiser’s Edge database is clear and updated.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acknowledge endowed gifts to ensure accurate, timely, consistent, and meaningful expression of gratitude. Seek opportunities to connect and engage donors and fund recipients.
Work with the Advancement team to determine opportunities and mechanisms to recognize donor giving via events, named spaces, and awards.
Maintain endowed fund filing system and document current standing of all endowed funds.
Work closely with Business Office to establish policies and procedures that review parameters of endowed gifts to ensure the donors’ intentions are honored.
For scholarship endowment funds, collaborate with Admissions Office to receive scholarship recipient names and in turn, reach out to scholars for personalized messaging to endowed scholarship donors.
With the Assistant Head for Advancement, create structures for giving opportunities, including levels required to establish endowed gifts, recognition of named spaces, giving societies or other newly-established locations of recognition at EWS.
Analyze effectiveness of stewardship strategies and programs, making and implementing strategic and operational recommendations.
Maintain portfolio of donors to cultivate, steward and solicit to meet Annual Fund for Walker’s goal.
Manage two or more Reunion classes including ongoing correspondence, Zoom meetings, and other methods to draw them back to campus.
Develop content for publications including the Annual Report of Philanthropy, the Sundial Magazine, and social media.
Work with Director of Alumnae Relations and database services team to maintain database of deceased personnel; send Chapel Bells Memorial service cards to relevant alumnae and family members.
Work with faculty and students to manage oversight, production and communication of two annual Memorial Chapel services partnering with campus stakeholders.
Work with Directors of Alumnae Relations and Communications Department to oversee the Take Note, In Memoriam section of the Sundial magazine.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
Effective strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to identify key issues proactively; formulate recommendations for change or improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and mature judgment. Ability to act with discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
Aptitude for technology and efficient production of communication projects. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, Canva, Adobe or other design software. Familiarity with databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge.
Critical and strategic thinker who possesses strong time- and project-management skills.
Professional and courteous demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and all constituents.
Ability and interest to maintain working knowledge of best practices in the field of donor relations and stewardship.
Ability to plan and execute events and programs and measure/report their impact.
