You will work with the technology and marketing teams to identify needs, design and implement digital solutions, develop the martech strategy, and align it with the broader technology strategy. You will work in small teams of subject matter experts and specialist that aren't encumbered by siloed access and bureaucracy.
Several years of experience with solution design and developing in/across digital platforms is a must. You should be proficient working with large amounts of data. Experience with strategic software planning and above named platforms, in particular, CDP, is a plus.

Job Summary:
The Solution Architect (Martech) leads marketing technology solution design and planning for the information technology team. The role collaborates heavily with IT and digital sales & marketing teams to plan and implement solutions for the school’s various offerings, including our online magazine and podcast (Kellogg Insight), executive education, MBA programs, and alumni. Specifically, the architect serves as the martech SME and strategic lead for the technology team. They also work hands-on on projects to plan and implement solutions alongside project managers, analysts, developers, and other architects.
Specific Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Works with stakeholders to define the future state digital marketing stack, technical roadmap, and other architectural artifacts.
- Works with stakeholders and technology leaders to align the martech strategy with the broader tech strategy and enterprise architecture for scaling, reuse, etc.
- Keeps informed of the latest technology trends and innovations especially in the areas of customer data platforms, marketing automation, data integration, master data management, marketing resource management, digital asset management, web content management, mobile, and social media.
- Articulates the architectural vision to clients, sponsors, and stakeholders.
Administration
- Establishes architectural documentation, standards, and processes.
- Advises CIO/leadership on which martech tools should be approved for use.
Development
- Performs complex integrations with code and integration tools.
- Works with marketers and technologists to implement integrations and critical workflows across the digital stack, including analytics hubs, CDP, CMS, CRM, DAM, data warehouse, email and marketing automation tools, etc.
- Applies a layered approach to classify the digital stack and determine appropriate solutions ranging from enterprise-grade, to microservices, to low-code point-solutions.
- Collaborates with technology and digital operations to develop playbooks and to ensure tools are set up correctly and data is captured optimally.
- Performs and automates complex data operations and collaborates with data engineers and other stakeholders.
Performance
- Creates solution architectures, including specifying applications, integrations (e.g., APIs), dataflows, and cloud services (e.g., microservices).
- Advises management on phased delivery that addresses immediate needs, while building towards the long-term strategic solution.
- Works with stakeholders to identify the core digital marketing use cases.
- Identifies architecturally significant requirements and technical debt.
- Advises in the selection of new tools and opportunities for prototyping.
- Participates in high level quality assurance and control.
- Leads and participates in troubleshooting for production systems.
Supervises
- Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
- Recommends staff hires/terminations.
- Coaches and mentors staff.
- Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
Miscellaneous
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- 6 years relevant experience required.
- 5+ years implementing enterprise technology.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with marketing data.
- 2+ years of hands-on query language experience (e.g., SQL).
- Experience dealing with unstructured data.
- Demonstrable experience with solution architecture, including design and data flows.
- Deep knowledge and passion for the digital stack, including analytics hubs, CDP, CMS, CRM, DAM, data warehouse, email and marketing automation tools, etc.
- Solid understanding of digital sales marketing concepts (UTM, funnel, journey, etc.).
- Experience configuring marketing automations and personalization.
- Able to articulate both a strong technical and general point of view on martech.
- Able to articulate a point of view on digital privacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a CDP implementation (e.g., Tealium, Segment, BlueVenn), including tying visitor status and activity to personalization or marketing automation.
- Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud.
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Constant Contact.
- Experience with Sitecore or another enterprise CMS/DXP.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD toolchains (especially Azure DevOps).
- Experience with Azure Cloud, microservices, and Microsoft PowerApps.
- Experience with search tools (e.g., Google Custom Search, Apache SOLR) and conventions (e.g., crawl, collection, facet).
- Experience working with data engineers; familiarity with ETL tools/methods (e.g., Pentaho, SSIS, Postman) and data warehousing (especially working with marketing data/metrics).
- Experience with a digital privacy implementation, including experience on GDPR or CCPA.
