Organizational Overview
The mission of the Project Management Center is to provide the Laboratory with a Project Management process and system that will lead to achieving outstanding project management capability and foster an on-going process of sizing Project Management methodology implementing a graded approach that optimally aligns resources and methodology to achieve our management goals of successfully completing projects on time and within budget.
Position Description
The Project Management Coordinator position is a one (1) year term appointment.
Candidate will report to a Project Management Analyst within the Project Management Center (PMC) supporting cost and schedule project planning and control functions for large scientific construction projects and smaller Research and Development projects. The candidate should have experience with and proficient skills in Excel e.g., pivot tables, vlookups, graphs. The position will learn project management/controls process and tools used in the initiation stages of project planning through execution and closeout phases of a project. Selected candidate will acquire an understanding of project management methodology, project control principles, and hands-on experience with Primavera to assist in developing and managing work, resources, and dollars using project controls tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing all aspects of an earned value management system, which consists of developing a fully integrated resource loaded schedule
Assist technical management in developing resource requirements to support the development of the project cost estimate
Ability to learn scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
Assist in developing the resource loaded schedule using Primavera software.
Analysis of the project schedule using critical path methodology and project metrics
Manage and implement changes to the schedule
Generate performance measurement monthly reports for the management team Interface with project technical staff to support the development of scope of work, cost estimates and schedules, project risks, baseline changes, variance analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
Preparing project monthly cost/schedule reports of project financial data for monthly reporting and project meetings or reviews
Support the development and deployment of new techniques and project management tools
Position Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline e.g. Finance, Engineering or Business Degree
Understanding of project management principles, to support estimating/ budgeting, time/ schedule management etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions such as pivot tables, vlookups
Solid analytical and reasoning skills
Must possess strong interpersonal and time management skills
Strong verbal communication skills with some public speaking experience
Motivated to learn and implement Project Controls, Project Management tools and processes on a small to a large-scale project
Must be a self-starter, a team player and able to work independently.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of scheduling theory, techniques, and methodologies
Use of Microsoft Project or Primavera scheduling tools
Internship in a DOE laboratory in Science, Engineering or Project Management
