The Program Director for Experiential Learning at Bucknell University in Freeman College of Management will be the lead staff member for the Herd Mentorship Program, student professional development, and oversight of industry partnerships. The Director will oversee student communications as they relate to experiential and co-curricular opportunities through formal email and paper communications to informal social media posts. Managing a student engagement platform, the Director will maintain platform operations, analyze data and disseminate outcomes to the faculty and staff, in support of the strategic planning. The Director will also assist in the execution of experiential curricular and co-curricular offerings such as fall and spring break trips, class-related excursions, case competitions, and professional development programming. The Director will identify and cultivate student projects with employers.alumni and parents for course, students organization.
This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Experiential Learning and will support and contribute to the Freeman College of Management's and the University's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Job Duties: Herd Mentorship Program Leadership
Manage the Bucknell Herd Mentorship Program (includes mentors for 200+ management students and the possibility of mentoring engineering, arts, and sciences students).
Evaluate and update the handbooks and websites for the mentors, mentees, and employer champions while communicating with the constituencies on a regular basis to form relationships and connections.
Professional Development Programming
Maintain a student engagement platform and analyze student outcome and engagement data to inform progress towards our strategic priorities. This data will also inform the work of faculty and shared governance committees in developing/updating curriculum and programs as well as administrators in reporting to external audiences such as accreditation bodies.
Develop and offer professional development programming to the student participants around: -Relationship-building, -Professional etiquette, and -Personal branding
Support of strategic priorities around student professional skill development and strong outcomes, with special attention to creating equitable support for diverse groups of learners.
Support the leadership programming initiative in the Freeman College (with the Sidney L. Miller Professor in Leadership) and across campus (with Athletics, Student Affairs, Civic Engagement, etc.) in developing and creating leadership programming for students.
Upon its adoption, serve as lead on the Engaged Leadership Certificate for Freeman College.
Work collaboratively with the career center staff on creating curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students' professional development.
Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordination
Identify corporations, foundations and organizations in fields related to SDGs and disciplines related to majors in ACCT, ANOP, FIN, GBLM, MIDE, MORS, MSUS, and the minor in real estate that can provide projects that fit the parameters of senior capstone consulting projects.
Identify appropriate individuals as Bucknell corporate contacts (alumni, parents, friends) in the industry within companies that are interested in Bucknell students and undergraduate management education and mentorship opportunities.
Collaborate with University Advancement on connections with alumni, parents, employers, donors and volunteers.
Develop relationships with key personnel and solicit them for project support.
Maintain a pipeline of sustainable projects and industry partners for the senior capstone course, Business Trends Summit, and class visits.
Maintain a database of sponsors and contacts.
Work closely with Freeman College of Management staff members and the faculty advisors on delivering the courses and deliverables to the clients.
Student Communications and Additional Duties
Manage student communications for the college as they relate to the blog and social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
Promote and attend student events while creating a culture of sharing contributions and successes.
Assist in the planning of fall and spring break trips, pre-orientation programs, as well as day trips. Includes preparing students, interacting with alumni, parents, and employer hosts.
Attend off-campus trips with students as staff point of contact for students, employers, and University staff and faculty members in attendance.
Advise student management-related organizations and clubs.
Collaborate with the Division of Communications.
Contribute to Experiential Learning and Freeman College of Management planning sessions.
Assist in the production of year-end review of experiential program offerings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Three (3) years in higher education working with student populations
Demonstrated ability to think critically and successful work towards strategic goals
Demonstrated abilities to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and adjust priorities in a busy environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to working courteously with internal and external constituencies
Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information on a routine basis
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel; database systems and data entry; Google software and a variety of web browsing programs and ability to adapt to changing technology and systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Five (5) years working with student populations in higher education and/or complex, decentralized organizations on cross-functional teams
Experience with inclusive professional development program creation, execution, and evaluation
Strong leadership ability
Business development experience
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 20 lbs
Ability to travel for field trips via ground and air transportation
Work Type: This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits eligible position.
