OverviewThe Assistant Manager, Operations coordinates daily operations, including events and space reservations, facility service requests, ID card operations, and access requests. The Assistant Manager is an essential team member with an on-campus requirement and select remote options available. Develop and implement quality assurance systems and operational policies and practices that identify service level inconsistencies with counterparts in Facilities, Academic Departments, IT, Media Services, Academic Affairs, and other University partners. Ensures effective space management and the safety and security of faculty, students, facilities, and equipment is realized. Manages competing priorities and takes a lead in troubleshooting operational complications.
ResponsibilitiesRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree in business, project management or related field
Preferred Education:Master's Degree Advanced degree in business, project management or related fields
Required Experience:3+ years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in facilities management, building operations, custodial operations, film or video production, or a logistics management-related role. Administrative management experience at a large college or university. Experience taking on projects involving complex operations and logistics. Must have prior supervisory experience. Proficiency with computer technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Drive. Ability to utilize home-grown and custom technology solutions with an objective purpose, advocating improvements and continued system improvements.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Established record of excellence in managing building and event operations. Excellent planning and management skills. Must be a strategic thinker and detail-oriented, with a collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation. Must be committed to excellent service quality standards with a prior track record of taking an aggressive stance on improving operational excellence, conditions, and service. Must be self-motivated and have creative problem-solving skills. Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently, managing conflicting priorities and deadlines. Strong organizational skills with the ability to create efficient systems particularly utilizing data analysis. Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities which may require re-prioritization of daily operations.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Familiarity with software applications for project management, room reservations, and asset tracking. Ability to develop, implement and communicate policies and procedures to a diverse population. Familiarity with the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities. Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards. Working knowledge with augmented and virtual reality technology.
