The Institute of Human Development and Social Change is seeking to fill the position of Research Manager who will provide support to the Principal Investigators for one or more ongoing research projects. The role will be ideal for a recent graduate from a masters or Ph.D. program with a background and interest in poverty policy, education policy, and youth development with specific interest and experience in qualitative research.
In this role, the research manager will work with the PI(s) on a field-based qualitative research study of a pilot project to provide guaranteed income payments to young adults and track their experiences over time.
Responsibilities
The Research Manager will work closely with the PI(s). The primary responsibilities for this role on both projects will include:
- Support principal researchers with designing, modifying, and implementing research methodology;
- Help to manage small research team of research assistants, including assigning and monitoring tasks.
- Draft and submit IRB-related documents and modifications
- Help in piloting and revising interview guide;
- Recruit research participants through multiple means and manage follow-up with and tracking of participants.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct qualitative data collection in the field, including in-person and virtual interviews, developing transcriptions and field notes, and coding data.
- Data organization for all the project data and consent forms from participants.
- Coordinate and attend regular ongoing project meetings
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must have flexible schedule including ability to participate in interviews in early evenings and weekends.
- Write project reports for submission to research partners and funders
- Assist principal researchers in writing project proposals for new initiatives, grants, and programs to expand the current research and develop new projects.
Qualifications
- Graduate education (Masters or PhD) preferably in public policy, social science or education research
- Experience with or knowledge about human services and anti-poverty programs (preferred)
- Advanced qualitative research and data analysis skills
- Self-starter with excellent organization and project management skills
- Ability to coordinate and be accountable for multiple tasks
- Ability to work with individuals across a wide range of expertise
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent skills in Microsoft, Google Docs, and NVivo (preferred)
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
