ABOUT US: Oregon Episcopal School occupies a wooded 59 acre campus where 880 students in Pre-K through 12th Grade share an excellent faculty, an inquiry based curriculum, and a strong sense of community. The School values employees who seek to continually develop the OES Essential Competencies in themselves and others and are prepared to engage in a vibrant, culturally diverse learning community.
JOB SUMMARY: The Middle School vocal music teacher provides classroom instruction to Middle School students in grades six, seven and eight. This position requires close collaboration with other members of the arts faculty—both performing and visual, in addition to collaboration with fellow Middle School faculty. The role is also responsible for encouraging students to participate in school-wide and community music opportunities, and generally serving as an enthusiastic leader for the vocal music program. The vocal music teacher should possess a willingness to teach students at all levels using student-led rehearsals and other inquiry-based approaches to teaching and learning as opposed to focusing solely on performances, competitions or festivals. The successful vocal music teacher will have experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds, empathy for the experience of non-dominant culture students, and a creative approach to incorporating these values and experience into the vocal music curriculum. OES teachers are guided by the Learning and Teaching at OES faculty growth model.
This is a full-time, academic year position that comes with a competitive salary, generous benefits package, abundant professional development opportunities, and one excellent meal daily. For more information on benefits at OES visit theOES Benefits Guide. Starts late August 2022.
