The MBA & MSx Programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) seeks an experienced business professional to serve as Associate Director, Strategy & Curricular Support. In this role, the Associate Director will be responsible for managing, evaluating and optimizing co-curricular student programs. The candidate should demonstrate experience analyzing and evaluating business metrics, both quantitative and qualitative, and implementing improvements. The Associate Director will also serve as an academic advisor to a cohort of students, guiding them to meet the Program requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and a proven ability to nurture program success from inception to completion. The candidate should demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as program/project management experience. The candidate should possess excellent communication and presentation skills to share findings and recommendations with faculty, staff and students.
The academic advising portion of the role involves advising 70+ students and helping them navigate the GSB. As an academic advisor, you work collaboratively with a team and develop in-depth knowledge of GSB courses, degree requirements, policies and available resources. Advising responsibilities include fielding questions and feedback from students, explaining and upholding academic policy, and maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism. This student-facing role will be based on the Stanford campus, and may be considered for an option of a hybrid work arrangement, subject to operational needs.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Develop and manage academic support programs for current students.
Oversee and implement the course placement survey process for incoming students.
Advise students on GSB courses, degree requirements and available resources at the GSB and Stanford.
Partner with Digital Solutions and support the faculty on analysis of MBA core course algorithms and student placement.
Own and implement the MBA summer onboarding calendar and make strategic recommendations for future improvements.
Provide direct program support for the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) course.
Evaluate preparation tools for admitted students and make strategic recommendations for improvements; negotiate with vendors.
Manage GSBGEN 390 independent study program for all students.
Develop and analyze benchmark studies as needed.
Engage in critical analysis of student and program concerns to resolve issues which may span multiple areas, using advanced subject area expertise and professional knowledge.
Interpret and implement university policy related to academic policies; oversee the implementation of policies and practices for students.
Provide direct advice to students on a range of issues including, but not limited to, academic progress and academic program policies, in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
Support MBA and MSx Programs Activities: As a fully-engaged member of the Strategy & Curricular Support team, participate in and support department initiatives and major annual events. Maintain a flexible mindset to assume special projects as needed.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Master's degree in business administration or related field.
Demonstrated experience managing programs, projects and initiatives.
Excellent judgment, communication skills and discretion.
