Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) cultivates and supports a highly-engaged, multidisciplinary and multicultural community of graduate students from across Stanford University, and delivers a diverse collection of educational experiences, preparing graduates to address complex challenges facing the world. Reporting to the Associate Director, Systems and Technology, the Systems and Web Analyst will design and implement technical processes in the Technolutions Slate CRM to improve workflow, production, efficiency, and effectiveness across the organization, with a focus on initiatives serving the current scholar population. In addition, this position will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and administration of the Knight-Hennessy Scholars website and several web-based Slate portals, including adding and updating website text, media content (blog posts, videos, podcasts, etc.), and layout based on existing platforms and using existing tools. The Systems and Web Analyst will also work with the Associate Director to support annual admission events including Immersion Weekend and cycle prep.
Process implementation in Slate
Build and maintain templates for queries, mailings, forms, and events underpinning daily operations for scholar programs and events.
Set up complex mailings that may involve conditional logic and editing HTML source code to achieve desired formatting.
Implement full life-cycle functionality for events, including registration and notes forms, automated communications, and attendance records.
Analyze and document user needs, existing and new policies, processes, procedures and operational methods to consider possible improvements to new and existing systems.
Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; may include developing test plans. Conduct and document results of testing.
Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.
Support annual updates to the application process during cycle prep, including testing and implementation of changes.
Data stewardship and reporting
Create and maintain scholar records and associated data fields.
Build queries and reports to fulfill requests for data stored in the Slate database; contribute to the development of long-term data dashboards.
Support multiple datasets in Slate through data uploads and batch maintenance.
Use built-in modules in Slate to clean up data, including Consolidate Records and Retention Policies.
Problem-solve in areas such as system design, input/output requirements and procedural flow between departments and/or business systems.
Portal development and maintenance
Perform development and maintenance programming for several web-based portals hosted in Slate.
Evaluate and support user needs, and recommend solutions within existing platforms; maintain and develop documentation and how-to guides for users.
Maintain, update and build new configurable-joins queries to support portal access and data elements.
Support year-over-year updates to existing portals, and the implementation of new or re-designed content and functionality.
Website development and maintenance
Maintain content management system, including configuration, theme and plug-in integration, and ongoing support of departmental liaisons using existing platforms and tools.
Support the development and maintenance of web applications, including building search indexes, integrating web designs, and building small collection websites.
Perform maintenance duties, such as scripting, adding new content to collections, rebuilding indexes, and maintaining templates and supporting pages.
Update web pages, including adding and updating test, media content, and layouts, to ensure site accuracy and currency; perform light web design.
Perform selected website administration duties. Ensure web server and site technical performance. Perform light troubleshooting and first line support.
Coordinate with Stanford Web Services team and Office of Digital Accessibility to ensure best practices and compliance are met.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and workflow.
Understanding of relational database concepts and best practices for data management.
Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.
Experience with Technolutions Slate CRM, including working with configurable joins and portal management
Experience with content management systems, such as Drupal 9, including the ability to perform standard installations and configurations.
Understanding of systems integration and various web devices and environments.
Ability to design and implement web services.
Knowledge of website delivery best practices.
Certifications and Licenses:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Strong visual acuity.
