The University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) was founded in 1963 as the youngest of four campuses within the University of Missouri System. The University of Missouri-St. Louis is searching for a well-organized and service-oriented program coordinator to the UMSL Global Study Abroad office, who operates with a self-understanding of being a sunshine for the promotion and organization of studying abroad. This position reports to the Manager of Study Abroad and International Programming of UMSL Global and works closely with the entire UMSL Global team. The incumbent will have great opportunity to join and to grow alongside a truly international team that is key to the UMSL campus, to gain valuable insights into international relations.
The Study Abroad Office provides and facilitates quality international educational opportunities at UMSL. As educators, we promote students' academic, personal, professional, and intercultural development before, during, and after their study abroad experiences. We respond effectively to individual student needs while fostering cultural understanding and self-awareness throughout the student body and contributing to an increasingly international campus. Our programming ranges from short-term faculty led opportunities to semester or year-long opportunities at well-positioned international partner institutions.
Reporting to the Study Abroad Manager, the Study Abroad Coordinator, through direct contact with students and communication with parents, campus partners, and other stakeholders contributes to university priorities of internationalization, inclusion, retention, and quality academic and experiential learning.
This position administers one or more student programs, including planning, event execution, financial activities, and marketing. This role communicates policies and procedures, proactively identifies problematic issues, facilitates relationships, plans, advises on policies, and works with student organizations to support their goals and activities.
Responsibilities:
Advise students regarding study abroad opportunities, program selection, application processes, pre-departure information, etc.
Coordinate faculty-led study abroad programs
Create program budgets and determine program fees
Recruit and support faculty who lead programs, including organizing pay and budgeting expenses
Coordinate the study abroad application process, including determining student eligibility
Schedule classes for programs and ensure students are enrolled properly
Ensure proper billing and payment by students
Work with third party providers on tasks such as contracts, invoices, payment, and student enrollment
Serve as first point of contact for emergencies
Process credit for students at end of program
Develop and execute marketing and recruitment plan, including advertising on campus, tabling, class presentations, the Education Abroad Fair, and similar tasks
Facilitate online and in-person orientations for participants
Maintain the study abroad website and program portfolio in Terra Dotta application site
Ensure program quality through evaluations, reports, and other appropriate assessment tools
Create and ensure compliance with UMSL Education Abroad policies and regulations, including risk management policies
Supervise student workers
Other tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree, preferred.
Minimum of two years relevant experience in administration or higher education.
Effective communication skills to interact positively with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and parents at University of Missouri-St. Louis and abroad.
Outstanding organizational skills; ability to prioritize and adjust to varying workloads and manage a variety of tasks
Experience with academic curriculum in study abroad is preferred.
Experience working in a study abroad office/university advising team is preferred.
Ability to work well with academic and student services offices.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and function in a high volume/ high traffic office setting
Familiarity with student records systems is preferred.
Proficiency with technology/data collection and analysis.
Personal initiative
Prior experience working with Terra Dotta software is preferred.
Knowledge of social media platforms, marketing strategies, and digital design tools preferred
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
Prior experience studying, working, or living abroad is preferred.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion in study abroad.
Willingness and availability for a flexible work schedule and assignment, including occasional evenings and weekends
Proficiency in a second language, preferably German, Chinese, Arabic or French
The position is based at UMSL in St. Louis and provides the possibility for occasional travel.
