Job Summary:
If you are looking for the next step in your recruiting career and have a passion for building relationships across a decentralized, large organization, then this role may be for you. In your first year, you will help build a centralized recruiting function, manage projects and support teams with full-cycle recruiting. Project work may include building standards and procedures, implementing resources for hiring managers, managing vendors and developing partnerships for pipeline success. Metrics and outcomes are important for this work. Full-cycle recruiting support will focus on using inclusive recruiting practices and mitigating bias with teams across the institution. You will report to the Associate Director - Talent Acquisition within the central HR department at U of M. Promotional opportunities are available within a year based on demonstrated performance.
Responsibilities:
Support full-cycle recruiting for up to 10 open requisitions at once; must be interested in supporting all career levels including higher-level requisitions (manager + with the intent that after the first 6-12 months, you’d be comfortable with director +)
Consult with teams to hire based on success criteria and the use of behavior-based interviewing to decrease first year turnover and increase time to proficiency
Build relationships with hiring teams by providing tools and training that have the following outcomes: decrease time to hire, increase diversity of applicant pools, increase hiring team/candidate satisfaction and ensure quality of hire
Ensure bias mitigation strategies are woven through each step from job creation to onboarding; conduct bias checking at each stage and within team discussions/actions
Help develop a centralized recruiting function by defining our ideal future state policies, standards, procedures for mitigating bias and implementing well-informed practices
Manage recruiting technologies and vendor relationships
Champion candidate experience at each step in the process
Develop partnerships for candidate pipelines and source for our open positions
For Intermediate level: Responsibilities remain the same with a focus on research-related, technology-related and early to mid career requisitions and supporting 6-8 open requisitions at once
Senior-Level Required Qualifications:
4+ years working in a formal talent acquisition role (and as your core function) providing full-cycle recruiting for a variety of position types and levels
Applied experience with a variety of recruiting technologies
Formal training in behavioral interviewing with 2+ years of practical application coaching others
Formal training in inclusive HR practices and mitigating bias in the recruiting process
2+ years participating in human resources-related projects in a complex organization
Knowledge of a variety of HR analytics
Formal training or intermediate knowledge of project management principles
Passion for managing change and consulting with teams
Intermediate-Level Required Qualifications:
2+ years working in a formal talent acquisition role (and as your core function) providing full-cycle recruiting for a variety of position types and levels
Applied experience with a variety of recruiting technologies
Basic knowledge of behavioral interviewing and interest in coaching others in this regard
Knowledge of inclusive HR practices and mitigating bias in the recruiting process
Knowledge of a variety of HR analytics
Formal training or intermediate knowledge of project management principles
Passion for managing change and consulting with teams
