Clinical Research Coordinator I - The Center for Pediatric Pulmonary Disease & Allergy (PPD&A)

The Center for Pediatric Pulmonary Disease & Allergy (PPD&A) is seeking a research study coordinator that is interested in collaborating with multiple WASHU individuals/departments to help build a research program â˜from the ground up.' This newly developed Center is part of a vision of The Childrenâ™s Discovery Institute (CDI) to discover new precision therapies designed for individual patients. The PPD&A will focus on Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and other Pediatric Pulmonary and Allergic Diseases.
This new coordinator will work with the project manager and Principal Investigators to develop and conduct PI initiated and/or collaborative multi-site research protocols. The coordinator may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with sponsoring agencies, the Institutional Review Board and study participants. The coordinator will be responsible for study start-up and execution, managing and recording all phases of study protocol, gain and maintain required regulatory approvals ensuring compliance and assist in building/maintaining databases for data repository.
Research studies will include pediatrics and/or adult participants.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Routinely implements and manages all phases of study/protocol; ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; establishes record-keeping systems; makes assessments and determinations of participantsâ™ progress in the study; analyzes, investigates, and reports adverse events; makes decisions as when to notify physicians of issues, when to stop participant inclusion, and/or to make and/or recommend adjustment of the protocol of particular participants;Â resolves IRB/protocol management issues and recommends corrective action as appropriate; serves as liaison with funding or sponsoring agency.
Routinely recruits and enrolls study participants; makes and/or participates in making determinations of eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and/or observations/analysis in participant interviews; develops informed consent packets for study participants and confers with participants to explain purpose of study and obtain completed informed consent packets;Â explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans to address participant/family concerns; administers/scores tests and/or evaluates all lab and clinical assessments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
Routinely ensures timely completion of all protocol requirements (assessment, lab testing, procedures and treatments) to include scheduling and facilitating the patientâ™s timely completion of protocol requirements; evaluates and interprets collected clinical data in conjunction with PI as appropriate.
Routinely collects data and laboratory specimens under clinical research protocols.
Processing, analysis and data management of biospecimen samples in the research laboratory.
Other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Working knowledge of computer programs and systems.
Communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Bachelorâ™s degree; prior work experience, preferably in clinical research support, is highly preferred; a combination of relevant work and education equaling four years may substitute for this requirement.
$44,200.00 - $66,400.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
