GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
A full-time Data Analyst position is available at the Alzheimer's Clinical & Translational Research Unit (ACTRU) at Massachusetts General Hospital under the direction of Dr. Steven Arnold. ACTRU works broadly to utilize biomarker data, both digital, biometric, and molecular, to understand the pathology of Alzheimer's disease and develop novel therapeutics. We are looking for a data-focused team member to analyze data sets generated from ongoing clinical trials of a novel digital tool to passively monitor cognition. The goal of this project is to develop, validate, and integrate this technology as a state-of-the art tool to improve sensitivity to detect cognitive changes in clinical trials for Alzheimer's disease.
The successful candidate will be part of a team that has developed this tool from the ground up, dedicated to organizing, managing, and analyzing the ongoing data collection in a multi-year Alzheimer's clinical trial. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for the maintenance of, and assist with the development of, digital phenotyping and biomarker data analysis, informatics systems, and high-level visualization techniques. The analyst is expected to select and test appropriate models to interpret data to generate results for manuscript submission.
The successful candidate should have a background in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related discipline and be self-sufficient in handling complex data sets, independent trouble shooting, and hypothesis testing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute significantly to the development of new processing pipelines for digital health data characterizing cognition and behavior, including, but not limited to, data organization, scaling/transforming, and applying advanced statistical methods.Work directly with internal and external study team on the testing and deployment of hypothesis-driven analysis frameworks.Cognitive, behavioral and clinical data analyses and processing.Maintaining digital health data organization and archiving.Working closely with investigators to optimize data collection and processing.Produce graphics and visualizations fit for publication.Organize and/or draft material for the preparation of research papers, manuscripts and other documents for publication and/or presentation.Document analysis pipelines, protocols, and procedures in LabArchives.Participate in the design of experiments.Assist with managing training materials relevant for data analyses.Assist lab members in maintaining organization of data storage servers.The position offers opportunities to participate in publications and to be part of a research environment combining clinical research, advanced digital and clinical biomarkers and neuroimaging analyses.
Qualifications SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Experience with MySQL and strong programming skills 3+ years of experience in Matlab and/or Python in a professional settingExcellent knowledge of advanced statistics and associated tools is required.Well-developed organizational and analytical skills, excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.Enthusiasm in learning new technologies and employ them in day-to-day usage.Excellent analytical skills and ability to own processes and resolve technical problems with minimal guidance.EDUCATION:

Individuals without formal training in these areas, but with the requisite experience and desired core skills will also be considered. Experience in a scientific setting is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Workspace in Building 149 in the Charlestown Navy Yard that is equipped with a networked computer. The successful applicant may also be expected to work from home and will be provided with the necessary technology/equipment to allow this. Visits to MGH-Main Campus in addition to local travel may occasionally be required.
