Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Building Technology and Urban Systems (BTUS) Division has an opening for a Climate Tech Program Manager to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will support the climate technology commercialization, early market transformation, and deployment of innovative research and analysis programs in BTUS by providing key program management support. You will serve as a key team member for deployment and tech to market programs at LBNL, including IMPEL+ at Berkeley Lab, a program that offers incubation of climate technologies, mentoring, commercialization pipelines opportunities to innovators developing new technologies, services, and products related to energy and climate technologies.
What You Will Do:
Under general supervision, coordinate planning efforts for programs of limited to moderate scope and size. Support/initiate planning and development of work scope, budget, and operating plans for research and tech-to-market projects.
Track proper execution of program plans, help manage staff availability to meet deliverable deadlines, track task progress, support the management of subcontracts and collaborations.
Recommend adjustments to projects to adapt to unanticipated changes in work scope, schedule and budget that arise as projects evolve.
Contribute to monthly milestone and project task status reports and reporting to funding organizations.
Interact with PI and program leads, participate in program meetings, reviews, and events.
Identify competing priorities from stakeholders to PIs and leadership as needed and recommend corrective actions such as schedule revisions, fund allocations, staffing levels. Exercise judgment within defined procedures.
Support execution of projects and programs related to energy technology scaling, commercialization, and market transformation and deployment activities.
Develop original written and visual communications to engage and collaborate with external stakeholders. Support the development of and participate in stakeholder workshops, seminars, events, networking sessions for technology scaling activities.
Coordinate data-driven analysis of tech-to-market and deployment programs and suggest development strategies.
Help contribute to research and analysis to evaluate the performance of energy technologies.
Help develop and evaluate methods to incorporate lessons learned from past technology scaling efforts to inform pathways to broad scale adoption.
Contribute to the development of technical reports, case studies, research papers, and other analytical projects.
What is Required:
May have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent training experience with preferably 2-5 years work experience in program administration of energy technologies projects.
Experience in emerging energy technology, commercialization, investment and early market transformation.
Ability to gain knowledge of Laboratory's scientific capabilities generally, and more specifically, building and energy technology topics.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for outreach and networking, and internal collaboration.
Experience with software systems, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management, and various calendar and email systems.
Familiarity with PM software tools, accounting, budgeting.
Familiarity with video editing software for short video production.
Background training in project management.
Advanced degree in related field.

This is a part time, 20 hrs/week, 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. Individuals working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley Lab.
