Carnegie Mellon University's department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is searching for a Project Lead for Media & Instructional Design. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an exciting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing crucial support by leading efforts and supports the university community in integrating audio and video multimedia for curricular, administrative, research, distance learning, special event, and outreach use.
Core responsibilities will include:

Promotes and supports the effective uses of video, audio, textual, graphical, and other electronic media in teaching, learning, research, and administrative purposes;

Collaborates with staff and faculty in generating alternatives to incorporate media and instructional technologies in support of curriculum delivery. Supports classroom and/or distance learning initiatives;

Builds and schedules distance streaming events using Zoom, and other platforms, while maintaining an organized schedule relative to AV team;
-
Acts as project leader for media technology designs, equipment selection and facility installations. Researches, evaluates, and tests new processes, equipment, and technologies;

Leads lower-level staff in all phases of a project's tactical planning, implementation, and continued service delivery;

Develops and coordinates installation schedules in partnership with campus customers, partners, and vendors;

Collaborates with faculty to settle technology needs for distance communication;

Moderates classroom webinars and video conferences across multiple platforms to ensure quality delivery of over 7,000 distance meetings/year and an average of 20 special events per month;

Assists with on premise and remote troubleshooting or reconnections across 20+ conference rooms and distance classrooms, sites in Silicon Valley, Africa and Portugal;

Assists and instructs faculty, staff, and students regarding accurate usage of AV equipment. Provides training as needed;

Responsible for establishing a department-wide audio visual and distance communication strategy in collaboration with department leaders, faculty, and staff. Builds team of specialists and generalists in specific technical disciplines; coordinates department AV/DC initiatives across domestic and international campuses;

Evaluates systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software capability. Recommends modifications to improve service performance, security, and reliability;

Distributes education and smart classroom technologies;

Responsible for ongoing maintenance, end-user training and documentation of all implemented technologies and processes;

Is responsible for quality control of AV/DC-dependent activities and develops feedback systems to advise improvements to services and related technologies;

Responsible for video production, quality, and distribution related to department education and outreach efforts;
-
Responsible for device procurement including standards development, obtaining quotes, and collaborating with business office procurement specialists;
-
Keeps current with new technologies, applicable laws, and regulations. Attends seminars or workshops relevant to technology and research initiatives;

Acts as liaison between ITS and external groups;
-
Maintains evening and weekend coverage as needed;

Performs related duties as assigned.

Media production and distribution: Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Panopto, Panopto Live Streaming, Panopto integration w/ Canvas LMS, Carousel Digital Signage, BrightSign Digital Signage
Instructional tech: Canvas LMS, Apple iPad
Systems Management: BeyondTrust Bomgar, JAMF, Mobile Device Management (MDM), Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree required in Digital Media Communications or related field

Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered in lieu of degree
-
At least five years of multi-media production and audio/visual equipment operation experience
-
Experience with video conferencing/VOIP usage and operator support
-
Basic understanding of how video codecs, media bridges, switchers, and Crestron Control Systems work
-
Experience with maintaining and solving streaming media systems
-
Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; knowledge of Mac OSX and Windows
-
CTS-Certified Technology Specialists - InfoComm International preferred
