Job Summary
This is a marketing leadership role, reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing & Analytics, and will lead our analytics efforts across the central marketing organization and the university as a whole. The Analytics team generates insights and reports to inform decisions on marketing campaigns that impact student experience, enrollment, and university reputation. Additionally, the Analytics team manages the marketing analytics platforms and marketing reporting tools used across the university.
This position will manage a growing team of Marketing Analysts, Marketing Data Engineers, and part-time analytics interns tasked with the following responsibilities:
Synthesizing and assisting in the interpretation of the results of paid media (e.g. social, search, display, etc.), owned media (web, mobile, email, etc.) and earned media (e.g. news stories) campaigns
Developing A/B tests and incremental lift studies to refine our understanding of ROI and inform campaign optimization
Engaging the university's marketing and communications community in ongoing education to advance their skills, such as: interpreting web analytics, improving web content and SEO via insights drawn from analytics, and properly tracking campaign tactics.
Establishing, implementing, and maintaining tagging methodology across digital channels, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.
Creating and managing scalable reporting and dashboards that monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), highlight areas of improvement, and influence strategy
Managing enterprise analytics platforms such as Google Analytics 360/Google Analytics 4, Salesforce Datorama, SEMRush, and others
Serve as the university's subject matter expert on marketing analytics
Develop, prioritize, and lead the implementation of the university's marketing analytics roadmap
Establish the long-term vision and architecture for data pipelines and data management required to provide scalable, automated analytics solutions
Manage relationships and contracts with marketing analytics vendors
Source, champion, and adopt new tools with data & analytics capabilities such as APIs and embedded custom scripts
Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to understand top priorities and strategies
Proactively communicate findings and actionable optimization recommendations to stakeholders
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and agency partners to fully understand campaign executions, KPIs, measurement/tagging requirements, and develop analytical frameworks
General Responsibilities:
Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define data analysis methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority data analysis projects/initiatives.
Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase data analysis initiatives.
Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
Manages high level assignments and allocation of data analysis resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale data analysis projects with a wide audiences in support of academic initiatives.
Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry data analysis standards, best practices, and emerging technology; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
Works collaboratively with other data analysis leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to data analysis.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Work Location
This position has the potential to be located on any Indiana University campus with occasional travel to other campuses.
