The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) at Indiana University Northwest seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position, STEM Center Coordinator. This position is supported by a federal grant under the Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM and Articulation Program. Reporting to the Project Director, this position will provide specific programming and services in support of IU Northwest's TRIUNFOS (TRansforming Indiana University Northwest For Opportunities in STEM) initiative focused on student engagement and persistence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Project Director and COAS Dean, the STEM Center Coordinator provides leadership implementing and expanding student programs and services offered through IU Northwest's new STEM Center. This includes coordinating and managing expanded STEM-specific dual enrollment and transfer services; developing and implementing initiatives and programming that promote student engagement, internships, and experiential learning; peer mentorship; community engagement; and undergraduate research.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Helps launch new academic and co-curricular initiatives.
Serves as a liaison responsible for cultivating and maintaining internal and external relationships in support of the goals and priorities of the project.
Provides leadership in developing an effective, integrated approach to support student success in STEM, working closely with IUN and Ivy Tech stakeholders.
Works closely with STEM faculty and key campus administrators to enhance outreach and recruitment efforts of traditionally underrepresented students in STEM.
Advocates for student retention and success initiatives across campus and assumes a leadership role in developing a culture of belonging and success for all STEM students.
Engages with high schools, community, and industry stakeholders to enhance student interest in STEM and increases student knowledge of and access to STEM employment opportunities during the school year, summer, and after graduation.
Coordinates services and activities with STEM faculty and existing campus support services in counseling, advising, tutoring, mentoring, and career services to maximize resources and achieve project goals.
Plans, develops, and integrates innovative support services and activities designed to facilitate the success of STEM students.
Prepares regular reports on the center's overall effectiveness for project and campus leadership in accordance with the approved evaluation plan.
General Responsibilities
Manages large projects of the most complex nature, from start to finish, ensuring on time completion within budget.
Analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
Communicates ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance; supervises and trains project staff as needed.
Develops and maintains project schedules, goals, and communication.
Matrix manages teams to develop, evaluate, and revise project processes.
Collaborates with other departments to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
Participates in client meetings, contract finalization, and development of requirements and specifications.
Provides guidance and support to less experienced peers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Master's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred
Ph.D. or E.D. degree in a relevant field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
3-5 years of relevant experience/leadership in STEM education or industry.
Experience or familiarity with programs or services to encourage success of Hispanic, low-income, and underrepresented students.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
