We are seeking a breakthrough content creator to play a pivotal role in building a reputation for ASME membership content. The ideal Senior Editor, Membership Engagement candidate will be a multifaceted content developer with a keen eye toward strategic and unique content opportunities and the ability to conceive and execute creative approaches to keep members interested. The ideal candidate also has an interest in both the business side and the editorial side of digital media operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Execute a cross-platform content strategy that will give the best experiences possible to ASME members and member prospects
- Work with the Digital and Marketing Operations team to create seamless digital journeys and online experiences that engage members with audience-focused content in unique and compelling packages
- Use personas and marketing segmentation to identify and satisfy target audiences’ information needs across various content formats
- Liaise with the membership team to generate ideas, discuss weekly membership acquisition
- Organize, assign, and project manage advertorials, special editions, special sections, SEO content pieces and cover-story content through production, as well as write and or assign special sections and cover stories
- Work with the Editor in chief of Mechanical Engineering magazine and within the editorial team to help conceive, edit, develop, and produce new content for the magazine and ASME.org that fits cohesively with the member content strategy
- Conduct on-camera interviews or moderate/hosting live and virtual event sessions and webinars; serve as an on-camera reporter and narrator as needed to support projects
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, or additional equivalent experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in journalism, including editing and feature writing. The successful candidate will be familiar with engineering concepts and the major industries ASME serves as well as demonstrated knowledge of science and its practical application as technology.
The incumbent must have a proven track record of demonstrating knowledge, excellence and practical experience in the following technical and professional skills and competencies:
Communication – Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills as well as experience working in cross-functional teams
Technical – Experience managing digital workflows for media sites and content management systems
Project Management – A detailed approach and ability to work independently and remain organized in order to meet commitments and balance competing priorities
Problem Solving – Ability to identify key issues, gather data to investigate those issues, and develop actionable recommendations
