DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The UC Davis Library consists of the Peter J. Shields Library and the Carlson Health Sciences Library in Davis, and the Blaisdell Medical Library in Sacramento. For more information about the UC Davis Library, visit:

JOB SUMMARYUnder general supervision of the Operations Unit Manager, responsible for providing complex/specialized building services with an emphasis on customer service for the University Library. Supervise and schedule Night and Weekend Leads (who provide staff coverage for night, weekend and holiday shifts) at Shields Library and the Carlson Health Sciences Library. Coordinate customer service for Night & Weekend staff. Collect data to provide detailed information on building and space use, and coordinate with Library Facilities on special events. Under broad objectives from Operations Unit Manager, responsible for maintaining access, cleaning and signage for public user workstations. Serve as Safety Coordinator for the 27 career staff members in the Access & Delivery Services Dept. Participate in long range planning and assessment of the Operations unit and perform routine assessment of procedures and staffing levels. Assist Operations Unit Manager and Stacks Maintenance Lead with planning and execution of minor and major stacks shifts. Provides high level project management for stacks and collections projects. Serve as Acting Operations Unit Manager in their absence. Actively participate in committee work relevant to the position within the UC Davis Library and across UC. Participate with the Circulation and Interlibrary Loan unit to provide high quality customer service to library patrons and staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs.; and use push book trucks up to 400lbs.
- Read standard print, handwritten notations; read computer screens; and operate keyboard equipment.
- Move quickly among workstations; stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Reach shelves from 5 to 82' high
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Work in areas where there is constant traffic and heavy person-to-person contact.
- The primary work location is Shields Library.
- This is an essential onsite position with some flexibility to work remotely dependent on operational needs.
- Serves as primary backup person to Night and Weekend Leads for covering night/weekend/holiday shifts.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as position will be required to work weekend, early or late hours on occasion to meet supervisory responsibilities.
