THE DEPARTMENT:
The Division for IT provides innovative, strategic and cost-appropriate technology services in collaboration with the campus community to advance the mission of the University. Technology services are recognized as an essential resource in furthering the University's mission. IT will provide technology solutions, expert consultation, and leadership resulting in numerous enhancements to the advancement of learning and knowledge and to the effectiveness of campus support services and business processes for the entire University.
Enterprise Applications Department will assume responsibility for Campus-wide applications including: the campus mobile applications, the campus portal, and the main campus web environment. Enterprise Applications will also provide application administration and services for division and department applications such as Advancement donor relations management, Student Affairs student engagement application, housing management, parking management, and more. Integration between campus systems will also be the responsibility of Enterprise Applications as well as working with campus partners to ensure services are delivered in a manner that provides and engaging and compelling end user experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide vision, leadership and administration of the Mobile & Web Applications department.
- Conduct annual assessment of services, evaluate and implement needed changes.
- Collaborate with staff on projects and assignments.
- Collaborate with directors on staff issues, concerns and staff development.
- Collaborate with end users to ensure projects are delivered in a manner and mutually agreed upon timeframe.
- Identify, assign, and prioritize work assignments for staff.
- Recruit and train staff and student assistants to maintain adequate coverage.
- Provide annual performance evaluations and ensure the professional development of staff.
- Develop and maintain a 3 year budget window for the Mobile & Web Applications group.
- Manage the department contracts and plan proactively for technology and budget changes.
- Analyze the functional needs of Mobile & Web Applications and the campus to aid in the planning, development, and deployment of departmental and university wide applications, including document and case management applications.
- Facilitate the planning, design, and implementation of the solutions for departmental, student focused, and university wide mobile, web, and other university wide applications (including document and case management applications), and services.
- Represent IT in various collaborative campus venues, leveraging then as additional input sources for planning.
- Communicate the department's mission, vision and priorities to the campus.
- Chair, co-chair, and/or participate in various ITG working groups.
- Use IT Governance structure and activities to listen to campus needs and gaps, and work with campus stakeholders to identify solutions.
- Serve as a member of the IT&IP leadership Team and contribute to regularly scheduled management meetings.
- Work in collaboration with other IT executive leaders on the division's strategic planning initiatives, projects and related assignments.
- Coordinate the annual assessment of IT division services.
- Assure end-user experience is considered as a key component of any technology service introduced or upgraded.
- Communicate the division's mission, vision and priorities to the Mobile & Web Applications team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree with a major in computer information systems, computer science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the information technology field with five years of experience in mobile & web project management, application development and/or systems analysis.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Working knowledge of university web management, portal and university ticketing systems. Understanding of advantages and constraints of integrating multiple applications and systems.
- Understanding of contemporary user design principles and user expectations when interacting with campus applications.
