Student Life Communications, Marketing & Design at the U-M is a multi-disciplinary team of communication and marketing professionals. Together we create cutting-edge user experiences and customer engagement that drives revenues and ensures the success of 26 Student Life units.
Job Summary
Restaurants, places to live, recreational sports and fitness, well-being, big events and, diversity, equity and inclusion (to name just a few.) The products, programs and services we market on behalf of Student Life are focused on students, faculty and staff so the work is creative, the results are real, the standards are high and teamwork is key.
We’re looking for an experienced, innovative, motivated and highly creative multimedia designer to join our growing team of marketing and communications experts—strategists, designers, writers, account managers, social media and digital marketing experts, user experience and web professionals and student pros. Your work will include traditional print, email marketing, website design, direct mail, point of sale, site graphics and multimedia projects. The work is often independent, frequently collaborative and always brand-focused.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent creative/conceptual thinking
- Extensive experience in design for print and digital media
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google tools a plus
- Sophisticated sense of design and creative vision
- Skilled in art direction for photography and video
- Exceptional typographic skills
- Proven experience in website and HTML email design with a working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Ability to execute concepts across a range of marketing media
- Experience working with and supporting established brands
- Professional experience in a traditional or in-house marketing, branding or advertising agency
- Experience with consumer product marketing is helpful

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to adapt to changing priorities
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment and with a diverse group of clients

- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Working conditions
- Must be available outside of normal business hours as needed
- Must be comfortable working in a virtual environment
Physical requirements
May be in a stationary position for an extended period of time
