The successful candidate will be working as part of a team to provide a high level of service to all areas of Admissions at the School of Dentistry, specifically for the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Internationally Trained Dentist Program (ITDP), and dental specialty Master of Science programs.
The position will provide graduate and professional student support to programs where the School of Dentistry is the admitting unit, and to programs where Rackham Graduate School is the admitting unit. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated commitment to be a part of our team, create a positive work environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
Admissions and Recruitment
Components: Participate with and provide leadership as the Staff Team Lead of the Admissions Team with the following scope of responsibilities:
Act as information expert with matters related to our admissions processes Communicate with and provide advising to prospective students Process applications for DDS, ITDP and specialty master’s degree programs using technology across several platforms Assist with development of recruitment initiatives including in-person and virtual activities. Lead and participate in such initiatives.
Components: Participate with and provide leadership as a Team Lead in the following scope of responsibilities:
Act as information expert with matters related to matriculation Use multiple platforms to complete student matriculation for DDS, ITDP and master’s degree Work with specific staff on matters related to incoming international students who require a student visa for study
Data Processing / Analytics
Act as information expert with matters related to application and admissions data. Work with ITS on application cycle updates and application load processes for DDS and ITDP Build and run multiple reports using Business Objects Build and run multiple reports using discipline-specific WebAdmit software Collaborate with admissions colleagues across campus Collaborate with Admissions Team on mandatory annual reports.
Collaborate with Admissions Team to plan and carry out student interview and orientation events Work with Admissions Team and represent the School of Dentistry at annual recruitment events - in-person or virtual Assist with planning other events as needed
Take a primary role in training new Admissions team members
Marketing and Additional Projects
Act as information expert with matters related to the Admissions website and other admissions-specific marketing materials (ie. Class Profile) Contribute assistance in the development and performance of additional projects as assigned
An associate degree or equivalent with four or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience. Candidate must demonstrate a high level of independent judgment and be capable of analyzing and resolving complex requests and issues. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and be highly motivated to provide superior customer service. Proven ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality is required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with demonstrated initiative to creatively problem solve, determine solutions and ascertain resources. A highly motivated administrator with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and balance multiple projects simultaneously is required. A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy is absolutely essential. Exellent attendance record.
Because much of this work now moves through digital environments, we require a high level of proficiency with information technology applications. We seek expertise in all Microsoft Suite software, Adobe Acrobat, Google applications, web editing, Zoom, and demonstrated motivation to find and use new software to enhance our major projects and mission.
This job requires the ability to move materials up to 20 pounds to a height of 3-4 feet and set them on tables, carts, or other surfaces.
A Bachelor's degree with typically 4 years of experience in student services administration. Student services experience within the University of Michigan or School of Dentistry. Prior experience working with Wolverine Access. The chosen candidate should possess a high degree of proven proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as Google Docs, Spreadsheets and Forms. Considerable knowledge of U-M policies and procedures.
