Position Summary:
The UCI School of Humanities is home to 22 majors and 39 minors that span global cultural and historical studies; languages, literature and media; human dimensions of science and technology; and philosophy and critical theory. The School is comprised of 13 academic departments and several research centers. The Office of Undergraduate Study (OUS), housed in the School of Humanities, is comprised of a dynamic team of academic advisors dedicated to providing outstanding guidance and support to approximately 2,000 undergraduate students pursuing Humanities majors. The OUS team provides academic advising and administrative services to majors and prospective majors, coordinates and delivers new student advising, certifies degrees upon completion of all requirements, and oversees specific programs within the School such as the Humanities Mentor Program, Humanities Honors Program, and Humanities House.
Manages a student academic advising unit in the School of Humanities. Formulates policies and procedures for the student academic advising program. Develops, administers, and evaluates programs to enhance academic advising and student experience. Develops the long term organizational goals of the unit. Manages the financial and human resources for the program. Provides direction to professional academic advisors, interacts with other campus units, and serves the School administration, faculty, and students.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements. Skills in project management and social perceptiveness. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, and leadership. Understanding of and sensitivity to needs of low-income, first-generation and/or international students. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Master's degree in counseling, education, business or a Humanities discipline.
Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Strong knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
